Some Updates...

As some of you already have seen elsewhere on the interwebz, the Wagon has been at the bodyshop since February. Not that talented at sharing photos here, so please excuse the delays.

To start off -

This is how I dropped it off...

and 3 days later, the Factory E90 M3 quarter panels are grafted into place...

So much wider!!!

E90 M3 Sedan and Wagon Bumper testfitting...

Unobtainium Rear Bumper created...

All Primed up, ready for Exhaust...

Factory Exhaust fitted, using factory hangar locations so Future upgrades will be bolt in...

Bodywork completed, ready for Color...

Color is on the car as we speak, but the Owner of the shop has asked me to hold off on sharing them here until they have completed their work.

Can't wait to share Soon!

Somebody use your driver's side rocker panel for target practice? Passenger side looks normal.

That's actually whats underneath the rocker guard on the unibody.

Photos were taken at different times. The Rocker guards were actually beginning to be prepped for color by the time we finished the rear in the last photo, so left them off during the transport photo in the last shot.

Sneak peek of the next photos...

E91 M3 wagon updates - 2018 Holiday edition...

Finally had some time to update this thread

Wagon has been put back together for a few months now, been performing some shakedowns and chasing electrical gremlins before beginning the next phase.

Photos below - Enjoy:

A bunch of changes planned for 2019...

She's a beaut @op I love the color with the bronze arc-8's. How'd you paint the valve covers on the motor? I'm about to do that myself and am debating have them professionally done or just goonsquadding it.

Thanks Mate! I bought the s65 with Valve covers already powder coated - quality is ok. I'm planning to redo it, honestly. The covers are a magnesium alloy IIRC, and it looks like the material underneath the powder coating is starting to lift. I'll update with how we solve that with more details once we begin the reassembly. Currently have the engine torn down to rebuild it while we have it out...#Rodbearings

Beautiful car. All it needs is LCI tails and some new seats . (I hope I'm not pressuring you into buying more mods lol)

LOL - no pressure taken. I've been working at my mods list as we go - Drivetrain is next Like the LCI tailgate too - We'll get to the LCI tailgate swap when it's time to fully paint the car

As for seats - I haven't decided how I want to proceed on the interior yet, so it's been moved down on the priority list. Love the factory seats (have an E90 M3 and a E92 M3 as well), but really like some of the aftermarket setups as well. It may depend on whether I decide to change the interior color.

If anyone is track prepping their E90 M3, message me... Would likely be interested in the interior bits....

For the donor body panels and hood (aside from the universal front bumper) did you grab E90M3 parts? I'm on the middle of conversion planning with my E91. Your build has me inspired!

Thanks Mate! Hood is also universal, and yes, fenders, mirrors, sideskirts and rear quarters are from an E90 M3 😊

The rear bumper will need to be created unless you can source one from someone who has made one already. We build mine from the OEM wagon panel and the OEM e90 M3 panel.

Ah, yes from my research I will be having a shop help with grafting the E90 M3 rear quarter+bumper lower into my E91 rear end. For all else I'm trying to source an E90 M3 donor car.

Another question - when you had the axle-back exhaust section fitted, did you have chassis hangars welded on after? How did you add on the factory location mounts?

Now, looking for more resources to do a full; mechanical driveline swap too.

Thanks again!

Random question Leddy.

Did you happen to have the purple car done in Springfield VA? I ask, because I have my car in the shop now and they had pictures of that car (or one that looks exactly like it, lol). Small world, or maybe just another fan with the same idea. Either way, love it.

Thanks mate! If it matches the one in my earlier photo sets, then it's a friend's build. We were both scrambling to get them done for MPACT 2018 back then. Now I'm scrambling to get the s65 swapped

We mounted the hangars to the factory M3 exhaust and fitted to the factory location before welding them in. It required replacement of the trunk panel and either modifying or replacing the fuel tank and rear stabilization bars that keep the rear subframe in place.

If I was to do it again, I'd wait until I installed the M3 rear subframe before tackling the exhaust.
