Installed Turner Cowl Delete Kit
Installed the cowl cabin filter housing delete kit from Turner motorsports last night. Pretty easy since you're mostly removing parts. Ziptied and tucked the two sensors down in safe places. Also gave the whole engine bay a little cleaning. i think it looks a little better overall.
Will this cause airflow issues and/or introduce more dust into the engine bay? TBD I will monitor regularly and report back.

Update #1: There is a slight increase in noise.
At cruising speed I notice a little more engine intake noise when i really get on the gas (which I like, and the same reason people like carbon intakes like haimus). Around town low speeds, I notice a light increase in overall engine bay noise. Mostly the "whir" of the valvetrain. I feel like 50/50 if people like that or not. Both are very small increases, and may not be noticable to passengers, or even some owners. I will follow up on if there is more dust and stuff in the engine bay, but for now I've only put 50 miles or so on the car since install. I plan to do a track day soon so will follow up if it causes any engine bay airflow issues, but it is getting cold here so I'm not sure how to test it.

The drawbacks I see is that you're deleting the cabin air filters and you can get water into the vents from the outside if you drive in the rain or wash your car.

Do you experience any increased "wind noise" similar to what you get when a piece of window trim or body trim is out of place disturbing the flow or air over the car or is the noise increase only intake/engine noise?

always nice to get some weight off the front of the car too, even if its marginal haha. I have been debating on doing this but cant seem to get a solid answer on the potential downsides.

But sounds like it really doesn't matter as much as I thought... As far as wind noise, I did not notice much if any at all. If there is an increase it is marginal, and less so than the engine noise. But I haven't noticed any. I have only driven 100 miles or so

Update #2: I have a couple hundred miles on the car now since installing, including driving in the rain. I checked to see if there was much more dust, etc. in the engine bay. Short answer is: not really.
When I installed, I also wiped down the engine bay pretty good and applied a silicone-based protectant, so those surfaces did not collect much dust at all. Going back to the noise increases, I will say you do really notice when you lay into the throttle. I like it. Not as smooth and nice-sounding as a carbon intake though. Only downside is driving at low speeds you do get more general engine bay noise, but it is a small increase. No increase in wind noise from this mod.

I just ordered one myself since it was discounted on ECS/Turner for black friday. I'm more curious about the weight savings, the BMS cowl delete filters claim 10lbs but that's also for the non-M setup which looks bulkier than ours. If we can get 6-7lbs that's a nice little mod considering it's hard to drop front-end weight.

I only remember weighing it by hand, but it def felt like at least 6 pounds, when combining the cowl cover and the filter housings.

Final update: Just did a track day and noticed no change in temps. Granted it was never above 67F at Laguna.
To sum it all up: - Opens up engine bay a little bit. I like the look. - Engine noise increased. I like the added sound when laying into the throttle. I am not a fan of the added valvetrain noise you hear when just cruising around town a low speeds, but it is minimal. - I do not notice added wind noise - Saves a few pounds up front. I'd say at least 5 lbs, but that's more than nothing. - Increase of dust getting into engine bay is very minimal over stock cowl cover (since this mod removes the seal). - Does not seem to affect airflow/cooling of engine bay. During a track day in mild weather I did not observe abnormal temps. - Rain and car washes do not seem to be an issue with exposed filter. Although it doesn't hurt to be careful when you are washing. Overall I am happy with it. If your stock cowl cover and filter housings have no issues, I wouldn't bother unless you're trying to shave every pound possible. If you want your engine bay as quiet as possible, I would not recommend.

So this kit removes the rubber seal between the cowl and the hood? I've always wondered if removing that seal would allow more airflow out of the engine bay and help reduce engine bay temperatures. I guess not.

not entirely convinced there's enough performance difference between them to feel anything.
I have the EAE motorsport plenum on the way that of all of them, should actually make a power difference as it differs from the others by way of its velocity stack design. |

I have also heard performance gains are minimally different between the options.
I have been following the development of the EAE one. They do have a dyno sheet showing decent gains. Did you get the option for the clear window? I think it looks cool. Gimmicky, but cool. I imagine that will also be one of the louder ones. Overall, yes I think this cowl delete will increase the noise from a carbon intake. As in, you will hear it a little better. Side note: Turner def wins the ugliest carbon intake haha.
