I also just have a fixation with the 996 C2 and the 996 RSR, and I want one to replace the M3 as a track car as I become more financially available. (The M96 would be getting tossed out the window and replaced with a different engine... Perhaps a K24 Turbo swap? With a RSR body kit?? long term project) But I'm with you; I would rather have a G80 M3 as the ideal replacement if I'm going for the dual duty car solution. However, since my wife is looking to get her own car soon, I won't have to worry about buying another daily driver. but I also have 2 other projects that need to be done... my IS300 1JZ swap and my FC RX7 project with my father (he owned 3 along with his brother) an unfortunate dilemma

You could dollar for dollar divest from the E92 M3 right into one of these. |

but that's a good case example! super under-rated right now.. market only going to get worse if you're looking at clean examples.

is ferodo phasing out the ds1.11? i need a new set of rears (have a set of fronts sitting on a shelf), and the rears in DS1.11 are $100 more than the DSUNO. looking at the coefficient of friction chart, the DSUNO is comparable or even a little better. any issue with mixing?

is that a more stable setup than 1.11 all around? i'm not looking to save a buck on brakes (!), but also if it's not needed then i can spend that elsewhere

1.11 is an endurance pad, and might be just fine front/rear. I’ve never ran that setup, but I have tried the 1.11 with the 2500 in the rear. It was ok.

I still question; why do folks not commit to full race prepped E9X M3s? I know they get spanked in SCCA due to being classed as T1, and it was a spank fest because all the V8 torque wonders......and this before SCCA allowed GT4 cars in But, outside of TT, I do not see much being prepped for W2W. Outside of weight, I cannot see another reason why no one preps one I know I know, The E46/36 combo is fully figured and the easy button but...?? |

At this point I think for the price the F8x is the better option. There are are bazillion of them around, they make power super easy, same ballpark on weight, more reliable?
I just talked to Bimmerworld about something and they said they're turning all of their focus towards the F and G series cars because no one is buying anything for the older ones any more. |

My other theory might have more holes in it, but I think the E92 M3 is the tipping point for where the speed potential goes beyond the risk level for what most HPDE drivers/grassroots racers are comfortable with. Granted, this is speaking in terms of a GT club-sport style car. Street trim cars aren't pushed as hard. This also comes from a general perspective and not one within the SCCA classes since I've not run with that group before and haven't used class potential to gauge a track car purchase. My inspiration for getting into the platform was seeing the sheer number of them in Nurburging videos, it seems very popular there. If I could get into any chassis of my pick, I'd go with a G82 M4. |

for W2W... it's just cheaper... to run a base 3 series over the M3. M3 parts are getting hard to obtain these days.. so i can't imagine W2W being something considered. although I do think the M3 would be good in Endurance Series.
