I remember seeing your car at Chapterfest 2009 - very nice.
Thanks bro! Did I speak with you at Chapterfest? What's your name?

Beautiful M3 you have!! I'm guessing you didn't have this car there? I don't remember seeing it.

I can't compare them to the summer Conti's yet because I had the installed before I left the dealer in January but I can tell you the perform extremely well on dry, wet and light snow. They feel way more planted than the Toyo Proxes 4's I had on the 335 before I got the M.
Thanks for the info! I'm using the Toyo Proxes 4's on my 323i now... they seem to work great on my 323i and are doing good in the light snow thus far. Funny thing is that I had never heard of these specific Toyo tires until my sponsor, Toyo Tires recommended these to me... I had previously used other all season tires like the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S (hated these because of how noisy they were) and before that I used the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

All-season tires do give up summer grip for tread life and cold weather traction. Not everyone misses the grip, but I can generally tell in my own driving.

If you think that all season tires are right for your situation, make sure to go in with your eyes open. If you know the tradeoff that you are making, you will probably be happy. If you assume they will be just like PS2 and its competitors in the summer, you may be disappointed.

My usual advice is to do summer/winter changeover, but as noted above there can be special circumstances.
Nice to meet you, Ben. Most of my contact with your company has been thru Gary, who is the rep over on e46fanatics.com.

How do the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+ compare with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (I used to use these on my 323i)?

Nice to meet you as well. Gary is great, he's actually a good friend of mine here. The A/S+ is an evoloution of the original AS. The compound and internal construction were improved, while the tread pattern remained the same. So if you liked the original A/S, the A/S+ should be familiar but improved. With the higher HP of the M3, they may not feel like they have more grip than the old ones, but they do.

Thanks. No, I don't believe we talked. I actually did have the car there. It was parked way in the back toward the end of the parking lot.

Thanks for the info, Ben! Do tell Gary I said hi (he'll remember me... the guy with the carbon fiber mechanical heart)... great guy! I bought multiple sets of tires/wheels from him over the years and even referred family members to him for tires/wheels.

Shame that we didn't meet, Tom... such a beautiful car too. Yeah, I stayed mostly on the other side of the parking lot closer to the autocross area, lol.

Hope to meet you at one of the meets this year, bro (hopefully by then I'll have my E92 M3 or at least have it on order).

I think everybody understands there're compromises. There're about 20 different street tire categories, and PS2s (max summer) are the second highest, just behind 'extreme summer' (I don't count the DOT legal race compounds). An 'ultra high performance all season' would be in 5th (behind ultra-high-performance summer and summer), which would give most of us all the grip you need for the streets, and added winter capabilities. I'd be stupid for me to have 2 sets of tires in Texas, so that bit of winter capabilites is all I need given I'll NEVER push the car to need max summer tires. Plus it's freaking flat all over the desert here . Having max summer tires is like buying a 44 magnum hand gun for home protection when a 40 caliber is all you need. Just overkill for most owners.

My only beef is the lack of ultra-high-peformance all-season tires in stock 19 sizes. Heck, I'd even be happy with high-performance all-seasons, but nothing either. Car looks like a 4x4 already, so don't want to go 255-35 and 275-35. I'm thinking going to the Conti DWs, which are supposed to be better in the cold than PS2s, even though they're also a max summer tire. And A LOT less noisy as well, which is another thing I HATE about PS2s. Will never buy another car without checking that high-perf all season sizes are available. Good day gang.

Hi Everyone, I'm new member but have visited the forum many times, great group of members and very supportive as well, I wanted to share my experience with my setup with stock wheels that I have match with Michelin pilot sport A/S 3+. The tire feel very planted when driving in heavy rain while cruising on the freeway at 70 mph. When taking corners in the rain, I usually coast through the turns with zero slippage on both concrete and blacktop roads. When Agressively accelerating from 1st to 2nd it can get tail happy. The road noise is non existent due to the engine note. I have driven in like snow this past winter here in Ohio in about 3-4 inches of snow and had no problem. It is my daily driver, I really have total admit that they are very well balance in All season. I have put about 7,200 miles on the tires and treadwear is very moderate compare to my PS2 tires that I had in the past. They grip very confidently during summer driving. I would give the tire an 8 out of 10 in all categories for Dry, Wet and Snow performance.
