Right, but why not just buy a new set of TPMS for the new wheels? Does it really make sense to dismount/mount the tires to get the TPMS out, and make the next guy do the same thing to add the TPMS back in?

That may be true, but that is still a fair amount of work, plus it requires a rebalance...I just don't get why people pull out the TPMS.
