Is this normal?

So I have a 2008 M3 and while I was sitting in the car waiting on a friend to show up the DVD starting turning 10 minutes later while the car was off. Just trying to figure out if this is part of the shutdown process or if I have a DVD drive going out?

I also notice when I open my doors after car has been sitting all day that the DVD spins up again. Wasn’t sure if this was normal either. Any advice or sanity check is appreciated!

Thanks!

iDrive enters into simple mode (you'll see some options greyed out) while the key is off. Plug in the key and press the ignition - all options will come back.

The DVD spinning up is a result of CAN waking up (from opening the door handles).

Tom, thanks for the heads up. One question, the screen is completely off while sitting for 10 minutes when it kicked back on. Is this still considered "simple mode?"

That's part of MOST, which can take ~30 minutes to completely go to sleep.

Nothing to worry about.
