Amen. I have a steep driveway and getting caught in second lugs the hell out of the engine. I always have to downshift to first since my DCT lags way too long in second.

I've been driving a stick for like 20 years (until now).. I don't ever recall purposely going into 1st gear from a higher gear while moving..

Any chance we can retire this thread? 5 pages on the shifting habits of 1st gear seems silly. Obviously we use it and some of us use it more/less depending on personal driving habits.
