Bumper Rash!!

I took my car out of the garage today to find this on the front passenger side. I'm sure it happened when the car was being parked (not by me), but alas, have no way of proving it.

Has anyone successfully had their bumper cover repainted? Given this is relative small and very low on the car, I hoping that they can simply re-spray the area and blend the surrounding paint. I'm not overly concerned if its not perfect (I'm sure this will happen again) but it's just so noticeable on a black car!

If anyone can share, I would appreciate it. Also, any recommendations for a body shop around NYC?

Is that all scrape mark? Or is it paint/cement? I would attempt to clean it as carefully as possible to see what the real damage looks like if you haven't already.

I once had the rockers of another car sanded and repainted by a detail shop. They did a fine job matching the paint. It was up to my expectation on that car but the M may need a little extra.

Looks like a good excuse for a 3D or Vorsteiner lip to me!

As a fellow city resident, I suggest you get some touch up paint. (I KNOW, I'M SORRY.) Manhattan garages are the worst, no matter how much you pay for the space, or tip the guys. I watched the guy back into a wall with my car, and the manager tried to tell me that they weren't responsible because there was a sign on the wall. After a few minutes of yelling, I took a deep breath, told myself that it was only a bumper, and walked away. (My garage had four Astons, maybe 7 Bentleys, 3 BMW Z8s, and probably 7 911 Turbos and a few GT3s. These guys are supposed to know how to take care of a car.) A few months later, another guy rubbed my fender (the metal) on an external corner of a concrete wall. Again, the same story from the manager, but luckily the owner was there when I was about to grab this guy, and he offered to split it. I may have threatened some other things that I'm not proud of at that point, and they paid for it. The point of this story is that you're going to have more of these, and it's probably worthwhile to wait for the next one. This one isn't too bad. Accept my condolences, though.

Man, if he's going t have a problem with his bumper scraping, the Lip is only going to add to his worries and eventual problems. I can't imagine if that was Carbon Fiber, I would be PISSED! It's no excuse to have your car damaged by someone else and then have them say it's not their responsibility. If thats the case then let Me park MY car I'll be responsible. I may live in Texas but I'm from NYC and I would never get a lip if I still lived in the city. I made that mistake two years ago (while living in Long Island) with a VW R32 (loved that car) and quickly realized it was a mistake.

I was actually just there last weekend and was looking around at how uncommon it is to see a car (a year or two old) that had no major scratches or dents. If not that, a lot of people had this rubber apron (good idea, but looks like crap) on their cars.

I feel for you. I have similar damage in the same area. I haven't gotten a quote, but I have heard they can blend it in, in that area.

Yes it can be fixed, and made to look like stock no problem. But honestly, it's going to cost you $500-$600 to get it done right. If it were me, instead I'd spend $700 and get a rep 3D or Vorsteiner lip. But that's just me.
