Those seem to wear pretty fast! Only 8 heat cycles? Yikes!

I previously used Nitto NT01 and just switched to Hankook Z221 (TD). Day and night difference, beat previous track PB's by a couple seconds.

How's the life on the Z221's? I can drop 2 secs per lap (minimum) by slapping some Hoosiers on, but they heat cycle out very quickly. However, since I'm not trying to achieve HPDE world champion status, I don't run Hoosiers.

I'm talking semi's. I'm only aware of a hoosier slick here which aren't allowed. I went with newer z221 compound in medium and they're holding up surprisingly well. I scrubbed them in, but they probably won't live as long as the nittos. This is on a track under 60 seconds and tyre prices would be different here.

How do the AD08Rs do on track? Tire Rack rates them pretty well, and their wet performance seems acceptable. Also available as 255/35R19 and 275/35R19 for fitment on OEM ZCP wheels.
My PSS will not last much longer and I'm eyeing the AD08R as my next tire. I'm not quite at the point where I am swapping wheels and tires so I'd like something streetable.

Anyone here use Federal 595 RSRs? They seem to have a good rep and are really cheap. Missed out on the Hankook RS3 sale, so I'm going to hold off on those. Also considered PSS, but I've read that they chunk.

I would not put the PSS in the same category as the RSR or RS3.

I've got a friend that swears by the Federal RSRs. I got to ride in his E36M with those tires. I was very surprised at the grip for the price. I'm curious to see how they hold up in 100*F weather though.

Isn't the RSR popular with the drift crowd? It's kinda hard to get here in the US.

dparm: try Bridgestone RE-11's. Good street tire (stiffer than PSS, but tolerable w/stock suspension). Good track tire with good manners and great grip for a street tire.

I think the AD08R is comparable to the Bridgestone RE71R. I have had both on my car with ZCP wheels. Unfortunately it wasn't any sort of back to back comparison. I had a set of the RE 11 in between. RE 11 is a OK street tire and probably better on the track than the PSS's but it is not in the same category as the AD08R or the RE71R. I would like to compare the AD08R with the RE71R but the 180 treadwear takes it out of Street class for autoX since a couple of years ago. Neither is likely to last as long as a street tire for street use but much better and probably longer lasting for track or autoX in my opinion. My PSS's chunked badly and Tire Rack says not to use them for autoX or track. |

I currently run NT05 275/35/18 squared set up. Right now Federal doesn't sell 275/35/18 but I heard the Federal 595RSR are a bit wider then the tire specification. Planning to try 265/35/18 once my Nittos wear out. |

These Federal RSRs are cheap! Half the price of NT01s practically and people in other cars seem to love them.

Could do staggered with these (slight reverse rake): 265/35R18 F, 285/30R18 R
Federal 595 RS-R Spec Sheet Skeptical but curious for someone to try them.

I'm not comparing the two. I just heard they're good tires for people who are still kinda new to tracking and don't need R-comps.

Edit: I wonder if I would face immediate death by using NT-01s. Found a used set that could hold me off while I wait for RSRs to come back. Last edited by Kong Sheng Han; 04-16-2016 at 11:24 AM.. |
