OP, I have the same issue. I have owned a lot of BMWs and the dash in my e92 M3 is by far the dimmest out of all of them, like dangerously dim.

I'm sure OP will appreciate your reply 8 years after he posted the question!

With that said I agree the gauges are strangely dim, easily the dimmest of all the BMW's I've owned.
