I’m very familiar. Just acknowledging your use of absolute terminology.

Ok so practically speaking, the main bearing are replaceable? Something a DIYer can do in their garage?

They’re replaceable is the point. Lots of built motors out there depending on the application. Yes, requires special tools and skills that will undoubtedly be out of the hands of 99%.

Just being mindful, that we have a tendency across these forums to spout “facts”. Myself included, that might then be regurgitated down the road when someone new inevitably starts this topic all over again.

I have a G80 and wish they kept the DCT. Even with the xHP trans tune, I'm not a huge fan of the ZF unless you're just cruising around. Just not as fun.

I love how those discussions always turn into rod bearing debate. It’s well known for years. It’s not the end of the world. Buy the one with them done or buy it for less and get it done yourself or by the shop of your choice. If one can’t deal with that than throwing s85 in M3 body is out of the question. This is and always be expensive and not straightforward. Both are great engines with its flaws that’s been discussed million times.

I also have a police edition Caprice. It was only available to the police force has a first generation, LS Corvette, V8 motor transmission, Computer Whitehorse, Everything I was considering maybe trying to put that in my 330. Don’t know if this has been done before or if it’s possible, I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I’m pretty sure it will fit to get a custom driveshaft made. Just think that would be insane amount of power for three series Bmw.

Now you're talking. It's been done. And will probably become much more common as the years go by.... As the world turns....
