Purchasing advice E93 M3 Value

I will go see the white one, but I don't think is worth more than 27k tops if all checks out.

I do think you could find a sweet spot with the spec if you're open to the vert. Not only are E93s discounted, but an '08 is a fine year. LCI on these cars did not add much (IMO, the iDrive was the only worthwhile upgrade). If it's a single hump car, I'd probably prefer MY08 myself. Could end up in a like-new car for a great price with limited downside (at ~$25K).
I agree with Obioban that you have to WANT the E93, and shouldn't simply buy it because it's cheaper than E92. If you want a coupe, you'll end up swapping for a coupe (more $$) or being unhappy with the E93.

I picked up an 2011 E93 about 6 months ago for $29k with only 35k miles. It has OEM competition wheels, Active Autowerkes catless "race" exhaust, AA air filter and a few other odd and ends. It's also a 6MT. At the time I was looking I found similar milage, year in the coupe version but all had DCT and all seemed to be Lower in price than a manual convertible.

From my research I don't think they made to many E93 6MT's at least compared to the manual E92. So I think that yes a manual vert all things equal should be slightly higher in value next to a coupe.

An 08 with 15k miles for mid $30's is a little high to me though, however, if you're interested in a "collector" and this spec meets your criteria then go for it.

Your car should only be worth what you think it's worth. Go drive it and get a feel for it. I would've paid a lot more for mine, it's so much fun.

I’m a lurker, not a poster... This issue speaks to me. I wanted a 4 seat convertible. That led me to the M3. Once I got serious, I looked at a bunch of cars... but I bought a one owner 2011. 6MT loaded E93 in silver stone with 7600 miles. Annual detail and service at dealer. I paid $31k at the end of 2018. I put 4000 miles on in in 2019 and will likely do it again in 2020. I have no idea what I would trade this car for. I have a wrangler for the winter, and I drive my M3 from April-November. I think very clean very low mileage cars with a service history are still selling in the 30’s.

This kinda speaks to me as well! I have a 7 year old boy that wants to come along for rides and we want to get a fun car that he can also enjoy. While a Cayman or a Boxster would be cool too, I would not be able to have him come along. The V8, 6 speed manual, convertible M3 speaks to me, and like you, I have winter cars, so the M3 would be a fair weather car.

Plus, I miss my E36 M3, that was such an awesome car. Can't wait until saturday when I can finally see this thing.

SO, went to see the car, so I have a somewhat better understanding of what I am getting myself into. Car presents really well, looks like a 12k car, clear bra on the front end, has a scrape through it but I can live with that. No dents/dings, barely any wear on the driver's bolster seats, less than 3k on the tires.

The troublesome parts, as we were done driving the service engine soon light came on, Oxygen sensors. The records only show on time/yearly oil changes, but that is about it. Owner seems to be more realistic about a 27k price point. Question is, should I do a PPI on it, or what should I expect to have to address on such a low milage car...

Always get a PPI, walk if the owner doesn’t want it. The risk isn’t worth it with these cars, even a low mileage one.

As far as normal maintenance you're not going to see a lot of records on such a low mile car. BMW scheduled maintenance is sparse anyway. If you want to bring the car up to spec I'd do a fresh oil/filter, power steering fluid, transmission fluid and diff fluid. You'd also want to change the brake fluid as that's done on time, not mileage (Especially with no record). Check the condition of the air and cabin filters and replace if necessary. There are plenty of opinions as to whether the driveline fluids should be changed, but the old school method is every 3yrs and you'd be at 12. So to each their own on that.

As for comps, I bought a 2011 E93, Mineral, 6MT with 47k in Oct 2018 for 24k. I specifically wanted the vert because I have a track car. It's nice to be able to take the kids on drives and I really enjoy the top down on a nice day. Yes, the coupe is a better performer, however if you're just grand touring you're not going to notice the difference. Trust me, plenty of seat time in both.

Nice example, have the seller take care of the O2 sensors, and do a bit of preventative maintenance and it should serve you well. Nice, low mileage examples of the E9x are not likely to depreciate a lot further.

Honestly, I'd keep looking for an '09-'10, with 25-35k miles, in mint condition... You'll end up spending less and getting better tech! (much improved idrive and active head restraint)

Sounds like you might have already walked away from this deal, but as a reference point I purchased a 2013 E93 M3 3 weeks ago for $25K. One owner, 6-speed, 54K miles with all options except the dynamic handling package (comp package was not an option on verts). Space gray on black extended Novillo. Overall the car is clean, but not enthusiast owned. All service was done according to BMW recommendations, but nothing above and beyond. Paint is in great condition, interior is also in good condition. Only real issue is car has 3 door dings which I will get PDR to rectify and rear tires are just about at their wear bars. Fronts are about 50%. The demand is soft on verts so good deals are out there. Like you, this is going to be a weekend cruiser, so I could care less about the 400 additional pounds. This car won't see any track time and has plenty horsepower for my local roads and highways.

There's no better way to hear the S65 than driving an E93. I have a short tunnel on my daily commute (Eastgate) and i look forward to the warmer temps and that little piece of audio bliss all winter.
