Oh dang. So not just for the remote wire function but for the LOC function also? If this is the case I guess I'd end up burning my PAC LOC up after a while if I simply used a different remote wire?

Myself and another member have had to have ours replaced once so far. I think it's a terrible unit but it's supposedly the only option unless we downgrade to Hifi and run additional amps.

i deleted my post because initially i thought you meant the LC2i can detect remote turn on with the GTO (Great Turn On) feature
which it doesn't
but mine is working well
except right now i haven't wired any remote and have it connected to direct power
which works ok but will have to change that if i ever park my car for longer than 2 days without using it
i already tapped the small thin black wire that VP recommened
and i got a PAC TR-4 to hook up to it
but haven't had the time to install it yet

Why do you need the PAC TR-4?

using it as a relay, i like it cuz it looks nice than a relay and already has the wires sticking out of it.
don't want to put the LC2i and the XD600/1 remote wires on that skinny looking black wire
afraid i put to much strain on it
i believe that wire is meant for the antenna booster
so not designed for this much load
i measured the load from the remote wire for LC2i and XD and its about .5 amps
PAC TR-4 can handle up to 2 amps

Do you know what gives out on it? Are there not any better units available?

Can't wait to see your installation then as I would consider adding it if it will make a difference.

Correct unless you downgrade to Hifi which requires running new amps for all the speakers.

Ugh. Ok. Good to know.

Maybe a better option would be to either upgrade to a better aftermarket amp with an optical input, or is there a such thing as an optical converter?

Oh also, when you had to have the LC2i replaced, was it done under warranty? Is it rated for the power that our stock amp is putting out? Faulty? or just pushed too hard?

Warranty, yes. I just don't think it's a quality unit. But it prob has to do with the fact that it has to deal with 40v.

I figured the TR-4 costs $10 from best buy
Why risk it?
This way I am not worried about adding more amps in the future

Why would the remote from the LC2i not work on our cars?

So is it proven that this thing will work for us?

http://www.amazon.com/PAC-TR-4-Volta...=19C1M7MAG6JRV

or are we forced to use the stock head units turnon?
