Does leaving my ipod plugged into usb/mp3 cable all the time kill the ipod battery?
I just bought another member's 2009 m3 coupe with the idrive mp3/usb cable and I have been leaving the ipod classic i have attached to the cable 24/7. I know it charges the ipod when attached and the car is not on BUT i used to have a 2008 335 coupe with an older video ipod and i think having it attached ALL THE TIME killed the battery. Anyone have any insight into this? Thanks

Good question! I have used a dedicated iPod in both my previous '08 550 and my current '11 M3, leaving it plugged in full-time except to update the music files. I would assume it is not good for the long-term health of the battery to be constantly charged for such short periods (given my driving patterns) and never allowed to fully drain. But as I said, this iPod Nano is dedicated to the car so I don't really car about killing the battery. It just stays in my center console and I use my iPhone for music outside of the car. The car iPod has worked great for years now with no issues...

What about the Car battery? Will keeping a dedicated Ipod in the car 24/7 drain the car battery at all since it will always be charging the ipod?

basically, you need one iPod dedicated for your car. don't' expect to use in your car all time and take it to travel and use.
