M5 vs. new RS6 - Sorry Footie Audi Sucks!

http://neffi.dk/M5vsRS6.html

Not one of Gustav / M5board's videos. Just a cat back exhaust, RPI air scoops and no ECU tune.

Start trying to explain Footie....

Damn...that RS6 didn't even look like it could close the gap at all.....weird all of the videos I have seen have shown the new RS6 handsomely defeating the E60 M5. I would like to think once the new M5 arrives, things will be quite different. Cool vid though.

Suprise suprise. It looks like top end they were going even speed, but the M got to the top end quicker. M5 FTW!

When you remove the charcoal filters you can really feel the difference. And the scoops are the best and cheapest mod you can do for the M5 / M6.

Very impressive indeed and shows that with some mods the M5 can be quicker than an RS6 estate, but when both are stock the RS6 is the quicker.

Also, not wanting to turn this into an Audi vs BMW debate but how do we know that this was all that was done to the M5. Can you tell us the respective drivers of each car and what forums are they from if any?

P.S.

Even you T Bone have to admit that pound for pound, dollar for dollar, if you spent the same amount of money in the RS6 you would have given a hp lift of a bare minimum of 60hp and that would have meant 640hp which would have easily beaten this M5.

The new M5 will be one hell of a beast. Can't wait to hear some speculation on it.

According to Autocar the same engine IS destined for the new M5 (2011) but there was no word on whether it will have DCT.

The M5 driver is TVAS from M5board. Dunno about the Audi driver but he may be a member of www.teabagged.com

The M5 guy spent $2000 or less. The biggest gains from the charcoal filter removal and the RPI scoops.

I would agree a tune on a turbo car would yield bigger results....as in any naturally aspirated vs FI car.

$2000 equates to about £1350 which would give the RS6 an almighty boost in power, more than my 60hp estimates. But the real surprise is that in this race the M5 won with relative ease but in the one conducted by Gustav even the M5 complete with ECU upgrade and exhaust could even get on level pegging with the RS6. Maybe the weather play a part in that race or both races were very much down to the ability of the drivers in each.

Though as much as I like the M5 as a concept I would still pick the RS6 even if in stock form it was slower (which it isn't) because it's a more rounded car, it's both mighty quick, easy to drive quickly and very impressive as something with can take on the role of a top class limo comforting it's passengers with a gear shift that can smooth out the rough edges that are ever present in the SMG.

Now if the M5 had came with either a true auto or better still a DCT then I might find it more difficult to decide on which is the better car.
