brake dust removal

Hi everyone. I was trying to search for a product that cleans wheels from brake dust baked to my track wheels and found this

My question is to those who have used it and if it works as advertised?
Any feedback will be appreciated

It's good, but you're going to have to do some scrubbing. Good luck!

It's a well-regarded product and has been around for a while.

Ok guys, thanks for your responses.
My track and especially OEM wheels look terrible, because I drive with race brake pads all the time, track and street, only change them when its time to change.
As a result of it, brake dust is basically baked on them.
I don't mind some scrubbing if I have to with sonax.
Any recommendations to which tools are best for scrubbing?

I find this stuff much better than Sonax. It actually gets sudsy and allows you some working time.

As for tools, a set of wheel woolies or a "Daytona Speed Brush" should be fine.

Be careful scrubbing as the baked on product starts to release. Track pad deposits are very hard and will absolutely scratch the paint on the wheel (been there, done that). Take your time, don't be in a rush to get it all off as fast as possible.

I recently bought a set of 219Ms to use on my E91, and they had been used for some track events and had lots of baked on deposits. I first washed them with car wash shampoo and hot water (wheels off the car). Next up was a full Sonax soaking/washing. Still not happy with what was left, I ended up doing three full coats/treatments/washing with Iron-X -- that finally lifted off the seriously baked on junk. I'm still amazed at how much was still left at each step (Sonax, Iron-X, Iron-X, Iron-X). My last coat of Iron-X finally didn't turn purple very much and essentially all of the track pad junk was finally gone. Note there was a LOT on the backside of the wheel too, so I got all of that off also.

I followed that up with another washing, drying and then used Menzerna powerlock sealant front and back followed by a couple of layers of Chemical Guys V7. They look fantastic now (replaced the M emblems on them too since those were brownish) with only slight imperfections in some corners where the baked on junk had resided.

sonax is probably the best I've ever used. You're still going to need a wheel brush.
