A bug almost caused an accident

Today, I was on my way home driving on the highway(middle lane), i saw a bug on my dashboard i opened the windows so the bug can get out (but it didn't). I tried to kill it with a custom wheels catalogue. I don't know what i look up and i see my car going right straight heading to the fence, i turned my steering wheel to the left as hard as i could (car was going side ways), and then right, i gained control of the car. Its amazing that the car didn't rollover, because i had a feeling that the car was going to rollover and it was raining. Im just happy that i didn't hit the fence, or rollover. And thank god the there were no cars.
Just wanted to share this story, and i still can't believe it.

Any comment are welcome.

I thought from the title that it was going to be a 'bug' as in something wrong with the car itself.

That type of thing has long been the main downfall of driving while stoned. LOL! I hate it when something like that happens. One time when I was a kid riding around in my buddies truck, he was trying to get a bite of a sub sandwich I had. He kept trying to take a bite and I kept pulling it farther away. The more he leaned over from the driver's seat, the less attention he was paying. He finally gave up and looked up just in time to swerve and miss a parked car. Scary as hell, but funny to think about once we got our wits back. I also offered up an uncontested bite of my sandwich immediately after that.

I really don't know what you mean by that? Are you referring to what I posted or what I did in the truck? I would need clarification to even defend myself.

Um, you were doing all of that while you were still driving????

I'm glad I don't live in Canada if that's how you people drive up there!!

I don't quite understand why you couldn't just pull over if it was bothering you that much or just wait until you arrived at your destination. Honestly, it isn't the bug's fault it's yours for such horrible judgement.

Puhleeze. What do you know about driving in NY? NY drivers HAVE to be good drivers or we'd never be able to navigate through the madness of the cabs in the city.

And no way would any NY driver have nearly gotten into an accident because we were trying to shoo away a little bug inside our car.

Ah come on. There are bad drivers everywhere. Actually, from my (little) experience, I find bad and really bad drivers anywhere I go. Lets not make it a national thing.

I totally agree that, trying to get an insect to the point of smashing catalogs everywhere is not my idea of conscient and rational driving. But lets put on the account of experience and that that lesson is now learned. Right ? I sure hope so.

As a side joke, maybe he was afraid that bug was carying the "virus du nil"

Something like this once happened to me when a wasp entered the car. Now with all the other devices, iDrive, iPod, cell phone, etc., it's easier for us multitaskers to forget how far our comfy car actually travels in the second or two it takes us to get distracted.

A co-worker of mine was so scared of being stinged by a be that he actually jumped off a rolling pick-up! At least he wasn't the one driving it.

I once (No, make it twice) had the experience of swerving left and right on black ice. The most recent time was with my E46. I saw brake lights far in front (On the highway) and braked to slow down. That's when the tail of the car went left. I compensated, it went right... Then left... Then right... I was slowly depressing the brake pedal, but must have swerved like this about a dozen times. The slightly (Or very) annoying part of it was that on my left there was a cement wall and on my right an 18-wheeler... Luckily I touched none of these.

The first time it happened was on a boulevard, so the speed was much lower and at the time I was driving a Mazda 323. Luckily I was alone in the middle lane because I was passing cars in the left and right lane while swerving in a similar manner and was again lucky enough not to hit any car (I must have passed about 20 of them before regaining control and there were 3 crashes in the right lane as black ice was everywhere on the road).

Now I remember why I hate winter.
