2013 Shelby GT500 < 2012 Camaro ZL1 < BMW M3?
http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews..._shelby_gt500/
Based on this HP isn't everything. Does that mean our M3s would've topped this out? I know gearing played a huge role in the GT500's time. Yet, it did have considerable body roll. Anyone else agree?

The ZL1 appears to be well sorted out, I will take superior handling over extra power, all day long, unless I was just drag racing.

I would agree. If I can run a 1:48 on gingerman in less than ideal conditions (damp, cold, non race pads) on a lightly modded M3, I would think in the hands of a pro and with the huge power advantages, the M would be embarrassed, guess not. As always it's not the size, it's how you use it :

Track a 4300+lb car with the driver and let me know how much you like paying for tires and brakes.
The ZL1 will probably out lap the new M3 (7:41 Ring time) but the porker will eat bigger/wider tires and and larger brake pads in a fraction of the time of it's much lighter rivals

The m3 does the quarter mile in about the same time as the zl1. Isn't that like the home of muscle cars like those... If it was my money I'd go for a gt500. Actually more likely I'd go for Godzilla as a second car.
