Guys with the warranties: does the warranty force you to do thing like an engine replacement at Bob's Discount Tire and Muffler?
I've heard on top of being difficult to deal with, they tell you where to bring the car and it's not always a shop that comes across as qualified to be working on cars that aren't Kias or Hyundais. That was the deterrent for me with a 3rd party warranty. I'd rather pay for rod bearings to be done now at a euro/performance shop than wait until my engine goes and have some guy that got his ASE certification 6 days ago putting an engine in the car I intend to keep indefinitely. So... what's been people's experiences with warranty shops, or the ability to request a shop with your warranty company?

Same here. Just got new valve cover gaskets and a differential seal for the $200 deductible. My warranty is through Ally.

Great thread. I ran into it as I googled whether or not I should pick up warranty. I'm so glad I purchased the warranty. I just bought this M3 this AM.
Hey, check out this car I found on Cars.com: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...ff=share_other

I have the fidelity silver 4 year 48k miles with a $250 deductible.
Would have gone gold or platinum but the cost didn't make sense for me. Silver has been great. |

Given the problems with the S65 I think I'd also pay more for a car with a replaced engine. Normally I wouldn't even consider that, but after having two of them and knowing their faults, I see it as a positive. Otherwise it could just be a matter of time before it's You who is doing the replacing. |

fidelity platinum warranty covered me through my bmw dealership with repairs well above the price. Funny thing is I got the warranty out of state at another dealership since CA dealerships wanted more than double in terms of pricing. Most likely will change rod bearings once warranty is expired though.
