Options and weight
First of all, let me make it very clear that I do not want to start a new thread about the basic weight of the car. That has already been covered in way to many threads.
My questions is: Based on the BMW_m3_coupe_catalogue.pdf file you can find on: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/index_highend.html How much do you actually think each option would add to the basic weight? In example, what is the weight difference between an E46 basic M3 and one with all options included? The general options for the E92 M3 is: Alarm system Exterior mirror package M drive manager (in combination with Nav, probably just software). High-beam assist Park Distance Control (PDC) Adaptive Headlights Lights package (interior) Backrest adjustment for driver and passenger seats Seat heating Comfort access system Storage package Navigation system Business Navigation system Professional AUX-in BMW Individual High-End audio system CD changer, 6 discs DAB-tuner HiFi System Profesiional, LOGIC7 Radio BMW Professional, incl mp3 decoder USB audio interface Telephone Sunroof, not listed in the .pdf, but available as an option I have not included options like different interior trim and upholstery. Any ideas? |

I am not sure how much certain items weigh, though plan on skipping power seats. Typically I will be the only one driving the thing so I shouldn't need the extra options for the seat. I have no idea what the weight savings will be though the $$ should be obvious. It seems like keeping the CF roof is the best savings on weight. How about the rims. Do the 19" weigh more?

If the wheels are made out of the same material, yes the 19" are going to weigh more. Most of the options electric will be heavier than stock!
