How long was yours at prep center? I'm going crazy from lack of info.

sorry but I got some bad news...
My SA just forwarded me a sales bulletin (just a PDF document) that explains why cars are being held at the PDC. It's confidential so I'm just going to type in the m3 relevant stuff (taken directly from the document).
----start-of-quote----- VDC Campaigns: Depending on the week build, ALL BMW models are impacted by a seat module campaign. Due to a supplier shortcoming, vehicles were built without the component that controls the vehicle’s power seats. Vehicles will be held at the VDC until the part is available. Upon part receipt, the module will be installed and the vehicles shipped. As of today, part availability is estimated to be mid-May. In addition M3 model are also being held due to campaign to properly install the vehicle’s license plate brackets. Upon completion, vehicles will be shipped. - 2011 M3 Models (All March & April Production): Vehicles being held for license plate bracket campaign. Shipment upon completion of all open campaigns. - 2011 M3 Models (April Production Weeks 15-17): Vehicles being held due to seat campaign. --- end-of-quote---- My m3 has been held since Apr 7th at Baltimore. System shows that it was released to carrier/truck yesterday. And now this. Looks like we might not see our cars until mid-May, worst case scenario. Btw, this effects lots of other models as well, not only M3s (e.g. X5, X6, 1, 3, etc.) |

Just got off the phone with the dealer. My car is out of the port today and on a truck to the PCD. I had a week 12 build.

Doesn't make sense. My car was week 12 and has been at PDC for awhile.

When is your PCD delivery date? I am scheduled for next tuesday so it looks like they pushed it out of the VPC a week from delivery. My car had been sitting at the VPC for almost 3 weeks.

Here's what it says:
Model: 2011 1, 3 (including M3), 7, Z4, and GT Models with power front seats Production Week(s): April Production Weeks 15-17 Status: Vehicles being held due to seat campaign Sorry for the bad news. However, the document also states that "part availability is estimated to be mid-May", so it yours gets here May 12th, the wait could be short, if any. Assuming no more volcanoes erupt! Quote:

This is really strange. I just got a call from my SA and my car is at the dealership. My car arrived at the VPC (NJ) on April 21st, so my car has not really experienced any delays at the VPC. I feel bad for the others that have been waiting two and three weeks for their cars.

The nice thing is the dealers should be as strung-out as we are since many reps are now going to miss their April sales numbers and there must be a real inventory and cash flow problem growing for many of them. They, not BMW, own these cars and they are just sitting on the books. |
