That sucks... I think us e9x owners are being hunted here in Cal. My Fiance called me earlier today because she saw an IB e9x apparently creamed on a road near our house and though it was me... Thankfully I was just napping on the couch!!!

So sorry about what happened, believe me, I've had my share of being rear-ended and side swiped in my baby. Fortunately the damage doesn't look too serious, car should be good as new once she's all fixed up!

So I went to a shop this morning to have it looked at and to start shopping around for a good body shop. They said it's possible there's frame damage because there's a wrinkle in the passenger side rear quarter panel, but they won't know until they can take things apart. I'm pretty sure there is though because the car doesn't drive straight anymore. On the freeway it will gradually drift to the right. Makes sense if the passenger side was crumpled and the wheelbase is shorter than the driver's side. F me.
So say there IS frame damage what are my options? Can I battle insurance for a new car? Who wants an M with repaired frame damage right?

wow... that is very unfortunate. I don't know much about the BMW frames, but it seems like a unibody of sorts, mostly because it's so stiff. If not, then you can repair it. But if it's a unibody, how does one really ever get that perfectly right.
Yes, that really really sucks. Now more than ever, if you're going to get it put on a lift and have someone look into it carefully, make sure the body shop is top notch so they get you a good analysis. |

You are lucky. Those koreans will probably come out of their car and rain a stream of fist on you for not moving out of the way in time. ;-) Your car looks like it will be on the way to recovery soon. =)

Not yet, I need to wait for insurance to look at it then I'm going to take it in to the shop to let them start ripping it apart.

yes, this is one for the insurance company appraiser to come out and look at... you'll need to make sure they are amenable to hearing from your body shop upon their more detailed examination. My insurance, Farmers, is totally cool that way... they are all about making the customer happy about the result.
