Sounds like 405. I totaled a car pretty much the same way. Those sudden halts really kill you on 405 and people look ahead only up to the car in front of them. Even if you are vigilant the person behind you may not.
I seriously hope he has insurance because half of the people in socal don't. The person who rear ended me last time gave me the stone wall. His insurance would not pick up the phone or return calls. They even try to shift blame. |

At least you got the van back when your M3 rolled off the tray truck back into it, that would have brought a smile to your face.

Poor car, but glad you're okay. Car can be fixed or replaced.
I always get nervous when I have to stop fast. Too many times I have heard brakes lock up behind me, but so far been lucky.

This must be a bad season for E92s. About 3 weeks ago, I was making a left, checked and saw no oncoming traffic...BOOM..."Why am I looking at airbags?" I got nailed almost head-on in my '07 335i coupe, which is how I ended up in an '08 M3.
They totaled my 335i three days after the accident. The insurance settlement was more than the present value of my lease contract, so I actually got a check for the difference. It paid for the down-payment on the M3 plus winter wheels+tires. I DO NOT recommend this method for upgrading your car, but I sure lucked out on this one! (OBTW, the car was totaled, but my injuries consisted of a slight scrape on one finger. THAT'S IT. Not even a bruise or soreness from the seat belt.)

People are Fudging blind in southern california. Their judgment is so off, they can't predict shit.
Some chick was making a left in front of my house, she ended up nailing my mom's car that is parked on the curb. It is a two lane, and how on earth she ended up hitting the car, that I am still baffled. I feel you bro. But glad you are ok. Metals can be repaired, but not human lives. |

Sorry to hear bro.. glad you are OK. 405 is no joke, I got rear-ended on the 405 by an LAX airport shuttle years ago (luckily it was a beater), driver fell asleep at the wheel although he later denied it. Needless to say.. cars are replaceable, your health and well-being are as precious as it gets... Be well.

Academic interest – please keep us updated on whether this is a total. Looks like it is however would be interested in repair cost if its not. Gotta love those towies. Glad you are OK - the metal can always be fixed or replaced.
