Apex Arc 8 fitment help

Hello everyone.

I am getting mixed opinions.
I am trying to see what my options are to avoid rubbing in the rear, if at all with the specs below:

E90 m3
100% stock suspension, with EDC(non-competition)

Wheel spec: 18x10.5 ET22
Tire spec: Toyo r888 295/30/18

I was told by apex I may/may not rub but am leaning towards that they will. For anyone with previous experience with this sized wheel and tire, I’d love an insight.
I was told I can flatten out that inner lip of the rear fender to avoid any rubbing as an option or just go smaller. But do I need to do all that?

Happy to help here. To ensure we are on the same page, can you confirm what front and rear wheel fitment you plan to run? I believe 18x10" ET22 was a typo as we do not offer that fitment.

Existing ARC-8 flow formed sizes: 18x10" ET25 and 18x10.5" ET27

All new ARC-8R forged sizes: 18x10" ET25 and 18x10.5" ET22

Also, to ensure we provide you with the best information, could tell us how you plan to enjoy the new wheel and tire setup? Will it be used only on the street, as a dual-duty setup (street and track), or strictly a dedicated track setup?

I run 18x10.5 ET27 rear with 295/30/18 Conti EC Sport. My E90M3 is lowered 1.5” on H&R Sport. I have grazed the arches on a bump with the car fully loaded. Probably would not have happened at stock ride height or with less weight in the car. Have not tracked it — could be worse on track. Track tests everything harder. Tire brands vary in tread width so another tire might be wider. E92 could be slightly different in the rear; I don’t know.

I’m confused myself because I’ve got an email from one of your experts:

Rear: 18x10.5" ET22 or ET27 with 285/35-18 tires

Is this guy confused too?

Could the ET22 be discontinued? Or never made. My concern is REAR only. I plan to take it for spirited drives on the weekend. I am referring to the original wheels, non forged.

And to the other member, have you tried to ride on stock height? I guess this will be a hit or miss. The R compound tires stand taller. I usually only have nobody sitting in the back seats in the e90 m3

Your OP indicates 18x10" ET22, which is not a specification we've ever made. I'm guessing you meant to type, 10.5"?

When it comes to our existing flow formed wheel designs, we offer the 18x10.5" ET27 in our ARC-8 and EC-7 designs, and 18x10.5" ET22 in our SM-10 and FL-5 designs. This is why our Product Expert included both offsets in his email response.

If your goal is to run 295/30-18 R888R tires, then I would choose either the ARC-8 or EC-7 with the slightly higher offset. The extra 5mm of extra fender clearance will certainly help prevent rubbing. At your ride height you will likely have the clearance you need, but it is possible to experience an occasional rub upon significant suspension compression. If this occurs, you could get an alignment done and dial in about -1.8º to -2º of camber in the rear for added clearance.

If you're mapping out a staggered wheel and tire fitment for spirited drives (not track days), I would recommend running 265/35-18 front, 285/35-18 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires instead. The Michelins have much better street manners (quieter etc.), will last much longer, and will still provide a lot of grip. The 285/35-18 rear tire size fits the 10.5" wheel perfectly, and will also give you a bit more sidewall (more appropriate rolling diameter).

We carry the PS4S, and include free mounting and road force balancing with all of our wheel and tire packages.

Front: ARC-8 18x9.5" ET22 - 265/35-18 Michelin PS4S
Rear: ARC-8 18x10.5" ET27 - 285/35-18 Michelin PS4S
