I always liked the turn signals in the side instead of the mirrors

My F80 is the only one of my three M cars to have side grills...the Z4 coupe and the E39 M5 look perfect without them. I think the gills looks pretty good on the F80. In terms of how much functionality they offer...let's not kid ourselves. For everyday driving, these are all decorative, at least in the modern era. For those who track regularly, perhaps...
P.S. All pre-E46 M cars did not have grills...E28 M5, E30 M3, E34 M5, E36 M3.

1M doesn't have a fender gill though. Or was your point that it's the best because it doesn't have one lol

The ’49 Roadmaster carried four (4) “Cruiser-Line Ventiports” (the official Buick term) per side, while the junior Super and Special sported just three (3) per side.

If you count the M2's fender badge then it feels wrong to leave out the 1M.

Not all in the list were functional (ex e46M3/CSL). Can you guess the others?

Industrial designers get inspired by other designers work. They openly repeat design history.
The American Buick (shown) was the first automobile to have them. An inspiration from the WWII fighter planes. #bmwgoneglobal #maga |

I think the Z3's are functional as well.

Interestingly theres a gap spanning over 3 decades that the fender gills werent used.
So the little z3 gave that feature an interesting new life.

"Bangle's flame surfacing ideology might not have suited everyone, but it did wonders for the E85/E86 Z4."[/QUOTE]
Bangle was too far ahead of his time. The automotive press and pundits just did not get it. I hate when the experts try to tell us what doesn't look good. They assassinated the Z4 and worse yet everyone joined in. The 89 has a lot of Bangle and so does the E85 amd now finally people think they look cool. |
