I'd like to see the justification for disabling the passenger airbag as being a safety feature. I don't believe that's an accurate statement. The only plausible explanation that comes to mind is that the passenger airbag is disabled due to the expectation that the majority of cars with these seats are primarily utilized for track duty. In the event of a crash with an unoccupied passenger seat, the costs and hassles associated with an unnecessary deployment would be avoided. Beyond that, I can't think of a good reason for disabling the passenger airbag.
