Randy Pobst at NJMP Lightning

I just came across a cool video of Randy Pobst running 1:18.4 on Lightning with an E36 325. This was an inaugural race for the American Endurance Racing (AER) series only a few weeks ago, at which Randy was a guest driver of Cardorks' chump spec car, and he won the time trial in its class as well as overall. Mind you, one of AER's requirements is that everyone runs DOT tire w/ 180 tread rating or above. Awesome time for such a crappy car.

It is a cool video. Have been there with my 135i many times. Makes me feel good that my best lap time is 2.6 sec. faster than Pobst
His racing lines are interesting, a little different from what i have been doing. Probably because of different power to weight and susp. set up. Very nice save at 5:09

Not bad; in the realm of the top Spec E30 laps for that circuit.

If that's the car I think it is, they have been working on it for some time, and have been doing quite well with it. It's a cut above many of the crapcan endurocars out there.

Interesting hand placement, especially in the right-handers. Also at 2:02: "Look Ma no hands".

I think his lines are the ballsy lines, not the ones that typical instructors teach. Looking forward to trying these.
