Opinions on running squared OEM 219M 18x9.5 ET23 set up?
In the E46 M3 community its extremely popular to run a squared stock 18" wheel setup, but I was curious as to why more people don't run a squared set of 219M's with 275/35s? They're a little heavy, but pretty cheap all things considered.
Am I crazy for wanting to run a square 219M setup, with 275/35s? This would allow me to invest more money into tires (Michelin PS4S, Advan A052, etc.) as opposed to going with an Apex / Titan wheel setup and running Federal Rs PROs. I plan on having a set of E88s built in the future, but in the mean time I want something a little more grippy / aggressive for the canyons. |

Perfectly fine. My first set of track wheels were square 219m with 275 RS4 tires. They are great, and I got them for very low cost by buying a full second set of 219m and selling a square set of fronts to someone to use as winters. Square is great on this car. I'm still using the square 219m for street and rain driving now.

I actually like how my 219M's look but switching them up to a square set would be very interesting. So, by using the rear 9.5" with the 23 ET, do you still need a 12mm spacer with a 275/35 tire? Does it rub at all?

Good question, I assume so. Others running a 275/35 squared set up have been forced to run up to 7mm in the front and 12mm in the rear to clear coilovers. Keen to know what others have to say, though.

Depends on the coilover and tire. For example, for a 275/35 RS4, 9.5" 219m front, and unmodified KW CS, a 5mm spacer is required.

Are you currently running KW Clubsports? If so what sway bar / adjustable end link setup are you running? I've found SPL adjustable front end links don't fit KW CS & Hotchkis swaybars -- so I've been looking for alternatives. |

They're pretty heavy wheels, and extremely annoying to clean, but a square 219M setup looks and works great, I had one for a while
You may not need a spacer to run 275/35-18's with a narrower tire on these because most people running a 275 up front and running into clearance issues are also running it on a wider wheel, the 9.5 pinches the tire a bit more. The kooks used to run wide not sure if the RS4 does

They stopped offering them to the general public a while back, but the Lucky Dog race league still gets them. Someone on here said it was a temporary shortage, but who knows...find a lucky dog friend to hook you up maybe?
