Corsa is considered a gentleman's exhaust for the S65, giving a growl without pissing off the neighbor. Your upstream setup makes a big difference, as you probably know.

Roger that. I've got the convertible and removing the primary cats does carry its cost. The sound difference is fine but I have to get it out of the garage pretty quickly after start up to keep the garage from stinking up the place.

Just to add to the smell comments. I basically eliminated all smell from installing test pipes once I had them welded instead of using clamps. Clamping test pipes does not give a complete seal resulting in exhaust leaks before the secondaries, hence the smell. its not as good as the factory cats, but a million times better than using clamps.

Clamping test pipes is a flawed design. If you look at any x pipe setup, you will see that the the pipe coming from the header that connects to the x pipe goes inside the pipe on the x pipe, not the outside. You obviously cant do this with test pipes, but there is a reason why its done this way on a aftermarket x pipe.

Same here, I had a pretty large leak at the driver side test pipe clamp. New clamp didn't fix it, so ended up welding both sides. Smell is much improved.

Currently running test pipes and stock muffler. I'd say the sound is where it needs to be if you don't like it loud. Still has a good roar when you step on it. Test pipes free up some ponies as well.

Do a 2, 2.5 or 4 pipe mod. I did a 2.5 myself (since I have a welder and the equipment needed) and it is perfect for keeping the wife happy but growls nicely under throttle. Not a bit of drone at all.

Will add that I have test pipes (had a shop V-band them) and Corsa, as well as a tune that kills the cold start. Very mild start up and while cruising, great wail as you rev it out, no smell and minimal to no drone. Though if I reset adaptations on the car, it idles pretty loudly.

I had a 2.5 pipe mod on my old car, and contrary to comments I saw, it droned quite a bit for a few 100 miles. Once it broke in, it was fine.

The oem mod rivals the sound and quality of 2k exhaust rear sections.

Start with that. You can buy them used for 200-400. Or take yours to a shop that will charge around that much in labor.

I've got a Megan.

It doesn't drone that bad. It's an aftermarket exhaust. Anything drones compared to the stock box.

It sounds very good in my opinion. Downshift blips are nice and aggressive. You can still hear all the induction sound as well.

It's a great deal for the money. I wouldn't buy it if it cost anymore than it does though.

This is not true. There are a handful of aftermarket options out there that do not drone at all. Corsa, Dinan and MPE all come to mind.

They might not consistently drone at "Cruising" speeds or rpm's but they will all drone at some point in the rpm's for some duration of time.

I had a Megan. It was fun at first but it is definitely a loud ass droning exhaust. I thought the drone was so bad that I avoided driving at certain rpms. Yes it can piss neighbors off if you leave in the morning. I found it hard to converse with people while driving normally.
I have a Corsa now and it is great. Except for cold start it isn’t too loud in the car. It is not a boomy sound. More of a wailing Ferrari like sound. Less muscle car than the Megan. I get compliments on my corsa when driving. I can’t say the same about the Megan. I will say that the Megan was a much cleaner looking exhaust. For pure sound I think the corsa is hard to beat unless you go all out and spend thousands on an akrapovic.
