Never liked the GTS transmission flash, both on the airstrip and track. Always used EU software here.

Recently had rod bearings and new O2's installed. While I was at it, I switched from the 98mm pulley to the 96.5mm on my G1. According to ESS, I should have picked up .5-.7psi. However, I seem to have actually lost .5psi according to my P3 gauge with analog sensor t tapped in line to the bypass assembly. Gauge readings have been extremely consistent to date.
Previously - 98mm pulley, 91oct file, 92oct fuel. Consistently hit peak of 7psi ish over the 1200 miles I had it installed. Currently - 96.5mm pulley, 91oct file, 92oct fuel. First drive (200 miles) peak boost maxed at 6.8psi. Second drive (50 miles) peak boost maxed at 6.6psi. Conditions are not a factor either. All mileage above was roughly same elevation (close to sea level) same outside temps (all within maybe 10 degrees). Not sure what would cause an immediate small drop in psi exactly when a new, smaller pulley was installed. It obviously can't be the pulley itself. Not sure where to start looking though. Thoughts?

GTS has increased fluid capacity and external cooler, it was never meant for non-GTS variants.

I'm at a loss here. Don't even know where to start looking. Going for another drive now to see if there is any change.

What's strange though is pre-G1 kit, the correct OEM size belt fit fine with zero issues. Car has 47k miles, with only 1500 miles on the kit, and didn't appear to have any slip with the 98mm. Might just swap the old 98mm pulley back in, see what happens, then go from there. Last edited by astris; 04-02-2021 at 06:01 PM.. |

I see you have mentioned the EU DCT software a few times as being a good option for supercharged cars. With that being said doesn't ESS offer a DCT tune specifically for superchargers? Is the ESS DCT tune for superchargers actually just the EU tune? Im curious as to why you mention the EU tune when ESS has their own SC DCT tune offering. Thanks! |

@tom,
Curious what you've seen in terms of peak boost numbers from winter to summer temps? Still tying to determine if something is off with my setup. With my 98mm, I was hitting 7 psi in fall/winter/early spring here in Seattle. As soon as I swapped to a 96.mm (still early spring) I only saw a peak of 6.8. With summer temps in the high 70s or 80s, I see 6.4 to 6.6 max, which seems low for a 96.mm. I'm trying to figure if it's all outside temp related or there actually is an issue. The 96.5mm in summer absolutely feels slower than the 98mm in winter. Honestly, it's felt slower ever since I had the 96.5mm installed. I have been waiting for temps to drop to see what kind of PSI I will see, but I'm getting antsy.

Where is the oil drain line on the G1? Is it different from the previous ESS SC's for the e9x?

For the supercharger? The oil needs to be evacuated using suction on the G1. The kit comes with a large syringe. I used a fluid vacuum on mine. Easy peasy.

Could someone upgrade their G1 system to a G1+ system if they wanted to run e85? I imagine that it's similar to running methanol in terms of keeping the engine cooler and keeping timing in check.
