ARTTI with 4g combox?

I have a 2013 E93 M3 with CIC. As you all know, the OEM 2g combox is no longer receiving any data. I am considering updating to the 4g combox through the dealer so I can use all of the BMW Assist features.

The BMW customer support people have told me, on two separate occasions, that updating to the 4g combox, in connection with the coding and software updates, will enable my CIC to receive advanced real-time traffic information (not just the RTTI transmitted via FM radio). I am still skeptical that this information is accurate, as I thought you needed the NBT head unit to receive ARTTI.

Is what BMW told me correct? Thanks in advance.

You don't need the NBT head unit. The CIC receiver can be updated to receive 4G signals.

How much are they quoting you?

If the CIC can receive 4G signals, does that mean that the navigation will display ARTTI data like the NBT unit does?

The dealership is still working on the quote. I will keep you informed about this.

RTTI works on my 2011 CIC w/combox. This does not get pushed through combox but CIC directly receives this.

That is not what this thread is about. It's common knowledge that regular FM based traffic info is available in the US to cars with a CIC.
