there are several guys i've tracked with that have damaged/torn front undertrays and they both mention that they run hotter than me at the track- and its not because i'm babying it. that front undertray plays a significant role in how the car forces air through the coolers.

Noted. Thanks for that anecdotal data, I appreciate it.
You guys running upgraded coolers at all? I'm thinking about upgrading the DCT and oil coolers. |

i went to my first and last 100* track day this summer and didn't have any issues with overheating.
if you're staying n/a, you should be fine, but it depends on your climate and how long you are going to be tracking the car for. i'd say track the car as-is and you'll identify the weak points. i'd skip the coolers for now and get a good front brake kit. essex parts makes two fantastic kits, one of which i'm running up front and it has been phenomenal. coilovers are another favorite, as well as solid subframe bushings. where are you located?

no, you need that part. i don't think the gt4 and apr splitter extend that far below the car.

no, i don't think those would be as form-fitting as the front felt, and they don't extend under the car like the felt does.
i'm sure there is more, but this vorsteiner splitter replaces (or covers, maybe) the front felt and allows for brake ducting. i don't have this part, but it was the first thing that came to mind. gt4 splitters are more like a front lip rather than an undertray. an apr splitter would help cover it up, but i think getting it sort of sealed off tighly (good, snug fit) is key for airflow. https://europeanautosource.com/vorst...mw-e9x-m3.html

108k miles, 12 track days, and an autocross. I think you'll be fine.

Original. Engine has not grenaded on me yet, and I have not been gentle once the car is warm.

yea, don't pull the trigger on that if you're going to track, you'll ruin it if you go off. i'm just trying to illustrate what a front lip with an undertray looks like.

if it is primarily a track car - I would run a gt4 front splitter with ducting. Some of the reps like mode carbon have all gotten good reviews in quality and fitment and are fairly priced.

Do you know if there are any lips that could replace the felt undertray? Or do lips require both the undertray with the lip? Something like this suffice without having to replace the undertray? http://www.trinityautosport.com/exot..._10_28_217_192

I think you already know the answer. Buy it cheap, drive it the way it is or spend 5k to do a engine overhaul (rods, plugs, etc) and enjoy. 100k miles aren't a lot. It's all based on the condition of the car on how It was treated with the previous owner.
