Heres a good one for everyone!

2008 with 162k - approximately 23k on one oil change (yes, I'm probably the dumbest person in this thread for forgetting about changing my oil)

So is that copper colour or just old oil on the shells mate?

Here are mine. Just removed from a 2013 e92 zcp with 32k miles and replaced with BE bearings and ARP bolts by SV Bimmer.

Great shop for those of you in the SF Bay Area. Also did spark plugs and engine mounts.

MY2010 E90 ZCP, ~57k miles. Oil pan gasket was going and since the pan was coming off, thought I'd get it done. No symptoms or sounds in my case. I wasn't there for the swap, the workshop inspected the crank journals and thought they were fine, no scoring or excessive wear.

That would be pure copper. They were COMPLETELY shot. Probably some of the worst I've ever seen. Of course it had to be on my own car

He mentioned on the other thread that the crank is scored. I can see that from the terrible condition of #2 RB.

The photo is 100% accurate. That's how they look to the eye as well. Indeed a strange wear pattern for only 32k miles.

….and not the only ones that look like that after being pulled...It makes me wonder what else is going in these motors that causes that bizarre "zebra" pattern of wear.

Hi All,

I purchased my car as a weekend toy 6 months ago... done 1000 miles in it. I knew and was prepared to get the RBs done in any case even with a low mileage...

Here are my bearings on an e92 M3 - 2009 @ 35K miles

I did a millers oil report just before I got them done. Showed above average Lead..

Pleased I got them done... went for VAC and ARP bolts (had 2 mounts replaced as well)

Might just be the later bearings that get the zebra pattern of wear. They are harder bearings.

I'm not even sure how you can tell, but you're spot on! #2 had scoring at the very edge of the bearing. Unfortunately they replaced with OEM. Dealer wouldn't go with WPC. I know they wont last long either even with no damage to the crank. It really annoys me, but I'm glad to have the car back for now. At the end of my loan I'll be replacing the motor.

^^ They've seen some shit, they deserve some respect.. line those suckers up next time let's see consistent wear across the cylinders left to right, top and bottom. There's some scoring in some of those, how'd the crank look?

Here are my rod bearings, pulled at 59,500 Miles. Excellent work done by
deansbimmer Mporium BMW in McKinney, TX. This is a 2011 E92.

I've had the car 3 years, got it at 25K miles. I've always used Castrol 10w60 and have done 5-7K mile oil changes. I drive the car like a grandma and always wait for the cold start to finish before setting off. I have all the service records from the previous owner, but I think this car had a harder life for the first 25K. Coulter at Mporium noticed my strut bars are on upside down and I have seen other things that lead me to believe this engine has been pulled before.

Looks nicely even worn and no scratches? New shells in place good to go!

No scratches, indeed. Seems they all look a little bit different looking thru them on this thread. Mine could have been worse, I guess. Happy to now have BE Bearings and the BE-ARP bolts keeping things from going boom.

Cool, glad to see you got them done! Debating for mine - 50k miles.. 2009. They don't look too bad if I am not mistaken..

Changed my rod bearings at 144000k (about 90000 miles).
Not too bad, the copper is visible in some bearings.
