You'll need to remove the leather from your existing base and glue the leather from the F10 knob on that base. Which means that you'll have to remove the leather very carefully from the F10 base, trim it a little and it will snap into place as the old one did.
Or, you can purchase a ready made conversion from one of the forum vendors like iND or ECS, etc... Here are a couple of threads you can use for reference: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=819781 http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312715

Not sure I understand you question. Can you simplify what you are trying to do?

I removed the old ring and glued it to the new boot. I trimmed away all excess leather and now i can't seem to get the tabs to snap into place. I tried for six hours until my fingers bled lol. I'm going to shave the leather thinner tomorrow. I'm not too sure where the hang up is.

Try making the holes around the tabs larger or don't try to wrap too much around the ring. You could also try gluing the boot to exactly the rings edges instead of wrapping around

Gluing isn't that bad..just use shoe glue and use those heavy duty clips for large stacks of paper to hold in place and let it dry. Like you, I found it impossible to snap in after just wrapping the leather around. Glue it to the ring edge and make cutaways for the tabs, should do the trick.

I don't have much experience attaching the F10 boot to the E9X ring, as I did the zip tie method.
In Short: 1) I used an X-acto knife to cut the new knob from the F10 boot (careful not to damage the plastic ring beneath and wiring) 2) I cut the old goose-neck knob from the E9x boot + ring. 3) By inverting the E9X boot + ring over the new knob, I was able to use a zip tie to fix them together. 4) After trimming away excess zip tie material, I simply fixed the original E9X Boot + ring in the original spot and didn't have to do any leather trimming. |

Got a link? Would rather pay more for a ready to go knob than to sit around and fiddle with it myself.

Its pretty simple, but a pain in the ass. What i did was remove the inner trim from both shift boots. Then lined them next to each other and cut. What I did was use binder clips to keep the leather to the trim piece. This way the leather sits closer in that area and clips in.

The leather doesn't slide down, because it's held buy the zip-tie. It's 100% secure. I'll admit, I was skeptical at first, but now I have no hesitation. I'll snap a pic at lunch and post

I sold my stock shift knob and boot for $70 on eBay. Didn't bother gluing the f10 boot, it's pinched in there tight and isn't going anywhere.
