I have added 18x9.5/10.5 ET22/27 Apex Arc 8 wheels, bilstein b8 struts/shocks, H&R Sport springs, Rogue underdrive pulley, MS Stage 2 intake, Vishnu Procede water/meth injection, Dinan tune, AKG 75D subframe and 95A diff bushings, VAC/YCW CF driveshaft, TopSpeed XPipe modified with 4 resonators, Megan rear exhaust, and plastidipped kidneys. Had my 08E90M3 for 7 years and 60k miles — 90k total miles on it now.
I plan to remove the Megan but it has been on there 3 years so I can’t regret it much. I did try Rogue motor mounts and removed them due to vibration at idle. I just installed revshift 80A trans mounts and will be removing them due to vibration in the 2000 rpm range. Everything else I am happy with. |

I feel that my mildly modded M3 is perfect with its Dinan Free Flow Exhaust, High Flow Carbon Fiber Intake, Performance Engine Software and Performance DCT Software.

No one seems to regret SC'ing their car...
Interesting. And something I need to think about!

CNT exhaust was terrible, shouldn't have bothered trying as it droned too much and was too loud, so I went with the...
OEM exhaust mod (2-pipe) which was o.k. but too quiet, so I switched to a decent muffler. ^ regret both |

The Harrop turns the car into what you might think of as more like an exotic sound/performance wise. For my car, it brought new life to it and made me happy not to replace with something else for a long time to come.

the first exhaust mods i did to the car were a challenge street pipe (secondary cat/resonator delete) and an mxp exhaust. way too loud and bassy for me. girlfriend hated it, and i was literally embarrassed driving the car. it came off the car pretty quick.
every exhaust thereafter, i was always questioned as to how it would sound and how i knew it would sound. ran the mxp for a while and it sounded great with the oem xpipe. beautiful exhaust, too. eventually wound up with a vorsteiner type two titanium for the sound and weight savings. i also got some bmw logo puddle lights. looked cool for about six months, then burned up and looks like crap. i've been meaning to replace them for some time now, but i can't find the replacement tabs. lol

Hey, I'm in my 70s, so all my mod regrets apply to earlier cars: bone-jarring suspension, scraping wheel/tire combos, shattered front splitters, droning exhaust, clattering light-weight flywheel, heat-soaking "cold-air" intake, probably others.
For this car the watchword is "mod-eration." My best by far is the Dinan engine software. Those guys are geniuses, correcting several OEM flaws, mainly the touchy throttle response in power mode. About black or cf exterior bits, on Jerez Black I much prefer the stock chrome kidney surrounds, which bring out my car's lovely face, especially at night. OK, I'll admit my problem could be failing eyesight...

currently dealing with an engine whistle that I can't diagnose, and wonder if it is somehow related to the pulley or filter.
love the akra evo, though the smell isn't ideal. embarrassing at valet, picking people up, etc. as someone else said, "stock" represents a set of compromises made by BMW. when you adjust those compromises, there will be a give and a take. w/ exhaust, it's sound, power, torque, at the cost of odor.

my Biggest regret is selling my meisterschaft gt2 with catless xpipe and putting stock back on. I think I’m the only one on here that loves how crazy loud it was haha.

H&R springs, custom wheels, performance steering wheel.
H&R Sports were bouncy. Fancy custom wheels were too aggressive and didn't fit properly which made for difficult driving situations. The steering wheel had rev lights which were cool but didn't work when temps were warm (>90F) and the alcantara was a bitch to maintain (still have and would sell if anyone wants to give it a try). ended up with bilstein b16 coilovers that work with edc, 19x9.5/10.5 apex arc-8 wheels with 255/275 michelin pilots, and removed the steering wheel and added a full akrapovic exhaust. she's a blast to drive now |

My only concern is the car has 95k miles now as its my daily. Weighing out if its worth SC'ing at this "age" or if the risk is too great at this point. Also, I'm guessing its mandatory to swap the exhaust when I get it SC'd, right? I actually prefer the sleeper stock exhaust even if that means a slight loss in power.

The guy I bought my car from installed black kidney grills, along w/black ZCP wheels, both of which I swapped back to stock. He graciously reinstalled the original wheels and gave me the chrome grills. I put them back on and sold the black ones on eBay. |

I had a Vörsteiner trunk and an eBay replica diffuser put on. Regretted cheaping out on the diffuser; it poked out too much and the curves weren't flush at all with bumper.
Also the shop put the wrong emblem on the trunk, they somehow put on an E46 one. Ordered the authentic part (and the right emblem) immediately and had the shop swap them out. |
