What's the intent here? Hide the blower under intake box?

Anybody else have any data or details on this kit/blower while we await feedback from EAS in their thread?

Looking at ESS’ own dynos of the VT2-595 versus the G1, I’m not sure I see any benefit to the slightly-pricier G1 other than weight. And the Vortech head unit is at least known, proven. I was expecting some efficiency/torque from the G1, but it looks like the opposite since it also runs an extra PSI of boost.
On the G1 dyno, look at the second run versus stock, the top run was a G1+ kit. Maaaaybe it’s stronger in the 5-6.5K range but offset by output below and above that (if that’s even outside of standard dyno error rates or run deviations).

Vortech unit is also repairable/rebuild while G1 and others don't. If something fails, you need to replace the supercharger.

Correct, assuming ESS wouldn’t warranty or repair it. Given what seems like similar performance and price, I’m just wondering where this fits in their lineup, esp since they’ll continue to sell the VT2 kits. The anecdotal benefits just don’t seem reflected in their own dynos.

My understanding is that the G1 is much lighter.
It is a significant advantage, if true, since not only it is complicated to make the front of the E92 lighter, the ESS 650 puts yet another 80Lbs on the front.

For track usage the weight reduction can be beneficial fr the same power. I wonder if the installed weight difference has been published

80lbs for an ESS VT2!? The Vortech head unit is 21lb, the misc hoses and brackets maybe 5. The intercooler maybe 5-10... how much can the plenum weigh over stock!?

You'd be surprised. The steel brackets they give you for the inter cooler weigh like 9lbs. I made some out of aluminum for mine.

Plus the plenum has a heat exchanger in it full of water

That’s crazy. Although the power more than makes up for it and that’s not a big deal on the street, still sucks. But that means the G1 kit would only be 70 vs 80 lbs, a big whatever.

I wonder what a VT1-550 weighs. Thats still a great setup for the street, although I like the idea of an intercooler even though I personally probably don’t need it (not tracking or doing airstrip runs, don’t live in the desert).

Just wanted to clarify this, the G1/G1+ supercharger units are indeed 100% rebuildable and even easier/cheaper than the Vortech units.

The G1 supercharger is designed to last 10,000+ hours, it will most likely outlast the vehicle. Should you ever need a rebuild - an ESS G1 full rebuild is $499, while the Vortech inspection fee alone will set you back $100.

All Current ESS Supercharger-related info can be seen in this thread. As always, if you have any questions - feel free to contact us directly.
