When I was a kid, The DeLorians lived down the road from us in Bedminster and the final assembly was done in Bridgewater NJ by my grandmother's house. We used to go there and look at the cars being put together and hope that someday we could own one. I don't think I want one anymore, it's kinda ugly now.

I thought the Deloreans were made in Ireland?

Homemade brotha! John Delorean was a bigwig with GM and suggested they build this car. When they didnt go for it, he went off on his own. We all know what happened next.

A new manufacturer has come in to play recently though and pretty much stocked up on all the outstanding parts - enough to build about 100(I think) more full cars.

I am not sure what the Irish connection is, I was very young at the time but I think you are right that there is an Irish connection there somewhere. For some reason I think The Irish Government gave him some money to finance the cars (or maybe he got it for something else and misappropriated it to his cars) I do know that they had an assemblage of parts from all over though but they were all put together in on rt 202/206 in Bridgewater NJ.

I almost bought one almost 2 years ago, but it need some engine and tranny work, I took it to a very reputable mechanic and was told it needed about $10k worth of work...... I balked since parts were expensive and hard to get.

My cousin owns a Delorean. He bought it and then had it refurbished, claims its worth something around $50k now.

On a related note, there is a company in Texas that has bought the rights and plans to begin production on some new Deloreans. It will be the same model as before.

Enjoy the link, props to the next Dr. Brown.

You didn't take any shots of the flux capacitor?

I've never seen one of those cars in person before. Its kind of cool, but I have no idea why you would build a car out of stainless steel, the weight must be retarded on that car.
