Going to put car on lift.... here to place lift???
I am going to install my Meisterschaft GT2 exhaust on the car this weekend and have access to a lift. Is there a preferred place on the chassis or bottom of car to place the lift pads on?
I am concerned that I will place the pads on the wrong area and do undercarriage or even worse... body damage to the vehicle. On many cars, you can see the frame, but I looked under the car and it does not seem as if I can see exactly where the frame is which concerns me that I will place the lift pads on the wrong part of the car. Someone please help!!!! |

I'd be very careful about lifting from the rear diff. The fins on the diff cooler are thin and delicate. If you do lift from the diff, find a hard point and be sure not to touch the cooler with your jack.

I would not use the diff as a jacking point, you're risking hurting the diff or hurting the diff mounts

If I want to lift the rear or front of the car in order to put it on axle stands, where do I place the jack?
For winter storage, I want to lift all 4 corners of the car slightly and to do so I need to jack the car up to put 4 axle stands at each corner. I was thinking of using the 4 jackpad adapters as shown on the pics in the post above to set the axle stands. But in order to do so I need to lift the front of the car positioning the jack in the middle of the car (and then do the same thing at the rear)....Not sure where to set the jack. Any ideas? |

2 or 3 of my jack point jackpad things are DESTROYED they chunked off but i just placed the jack under where the destroyed jack pads are and lifted my car should i replace the jackpads? i think at this point i'm better off just leaving the destroyed jackpads alone since i had a flat surface for the jack to lift

you can safely lift from the rear diff, just don't do it when swapping rear exhausts, it will be in the way.
if your jack pads look like the above pic, they are still fine to use.

I store both my weekend cars for winter and I never put them on jack stands. Just inflate the tires before storage and place carpet under each tire. One of my car is 2001 and have been stored every winter that way, no issues till this day. |
