Download speed questions

Im back home and my parents computer when downloading, is getting 600 kb/s when downloading a movie.

Did a speedtest:

But back home my speedtest is 15/4 ish, but will only go as far as 50kb/s when downloanding, trying to figure out why.

I dont think my ping is that high but what can I do to make it download quicker, because I know I have a faster internet connection.

Mine is wireless(could be wired if I wanted it to be), theirs wired.

At my old apartment I was running wireless and the speed was 500kb/s, my new apartment had shitty internet but they fixed it. Could it be the router making that big of difference?

not probable, but certainly possible (not at those speeds)

the most important thing though is where are you trying to download from?
And what ISP?

but 600 kb/s vs. 50 kb/s? makes no sense to me

id check the router, and also ask your ISP for a signal booster. i got one for my house and haven't had any issues since then. I have cablevision and also got the optimum boost package (30/5) and with my dual band gigabit router, i am getting better speeds on dual band wireless over wired (not sure how or why, but thats the case), and that is only on my PC. my laptop gets the same speed wired or wireless.

Try to test the speed when downloading the same files.

Could be the server you're downloading from too. Is it slow downloading from various sources?

(don't know if you're still having the issue)
