Throttle Body Actuators

Hi all,

I got the dreaded check engine light associated with the TBA's failure. Car is 2009 E90, with 66k miles. I ran the codes using my generic scanner and got following codes:

U011E
P1628
P161F

All pointing to my Bank 2 TBA failure.

What do you all do to remedy the issue? Reading thru the old posts seems like most just bite the bullet and buy the ~$500 part and replace themselves, is this correct?

x2 on this, go ahead and buy both. Its not a bad DIY project at all. You can find/follow the DIY thread on here and knock it out pretty easily.

Disconnected the battery, turned car on and everything is fine now. I guess it's a matter of time before the car kicks back into limp mode.

Funny that you ask, as I this happened again today also when the fuel reserve was on. Both instances about 60 miles left to go per on board computer.

I have been clearing the code and driving without issues for the past month and a half. It comes on about every few weeks. Car not driven daily. Putting off the replacement.

You will change them when they get bad enough. They won’t fix themselves. You will go into limp home more frequently.

Can I ask if you drive the car often? If not, do you charge the battery?

Didn’t that one member leave his car on the side of the road and it got stripped or still and stripped? I drove in limp mode occasionally for a couple of months. Top speed was 80 down hill and acceleration slow but I did not have to leave the car.
