Quick background: I've had my car for about two months and I've not driven it too hard. It's got 77k miles (2k of which I've put on it). I've done some spirited driving, but I've only taken it to redline maybe 4 times. It's a well-maintained Florida car but I've not done the rod bearings yet so I'm being cautious. I did a DCT service a month ago, and put a new driveshaft in the car last week.

Fast forward to a couple hours ago: I was running some errands and took a detour, ended up in a pretty desolate part of town with no people and no cars (industrial area near the highway around 9 at night) and I thought "screw it im gonna treat myself" — it's a chilly night in Florida (prob 55 F) but the the car is warmed up. so I stop, turn DSC off and dial the transmission up to max (six, I believe, with DSC off) and just mash the throttle and suddenly the RPMs jump and the car doesn't budge. It was maybe half a second, but then the car basically dumps the clutch at like 6k RPMs. I was pretty much already letting off the gas around the 1 second mark because it was unexpected and I was afraid I broke something.

Car was NOT in M mode but was in sport mode (not DRIVE). I was not playing with launch control. But DCT was on 6 with DSC off. The clutches did not "slip" there was a hard grab when the RPMs spiked, almost identical to dumping the clutch in a manual.

I did not attempt to replicate. Car felt fine and shifted normal for the rest of the unspirited drive.

Thoughts?

If you floor the car in s5 or s6 with Dsc off it does this, it’s normal.

Sounds normal for the throttle response in that mode.

Also, congrats on the car. I miss living in the st pete area some times. Great area, mostly great roads and awesome weather right now.

Thanks everyone had no clue this was normal.

SkiFly01 St Pete is okay. Weather this time of year is amazing for sure, but I'm over the flatness.

I actually live in the city so I've got to drive a bit for fun roads, I am close to some beautiful highway routes though (Courtney Campbell, Howard frankland, Gandy, skyway, etc).

Heading out for a first proper drive tomorrow morning, St Pete —> Mt. Dora, I painstakingly chose the most fun route. Fingers crossed this boring, flat state doesn't let me down!

If you are in s6 with brake on and hold the shifter forward for a second you will the checkered flag pop up and that is launch control.
That is a nice area, my aunt lives in Brandon now used to be off the Hillsborough exit off 275

Yes, as people have said this is normal operation. This is another "quick" launch, essentially dumps the clutch for a nice burn out, if you have dsc off

Yea, there are some fun routes. Other fun routes are hwy 42 at the bottom of ONF or even heading to St Augustine and you find some back roads around Palatka and one that was localish for me, Avenue G in Micanopy, if you are travelling north on 75. The closest for TPA is Ozello Trail just north of Homosassa Springs, it has been called the deals gap of FL. If you have a 2 wheeled vehicle, it's a fun ride on those routes

Nice! BOOF-M3 is local, too. I think he's kind of a forum elder haha.

I discovered some pretty cool roads between here and Mt Dora this weekend, really put my navigator's wits to the test

Couple of local events coming up I'm thinking about going to:

https://www.facebook.com/events/614789765606615/?ti=ia

https://www.facebook.com/events/2550...98499132?ti=ia

The big storm one will prob be better but I'm not 100% going - I just sent my DCT shifter out to Coby Wheel and it won't be back until next week so my interior looks like crap. If I go I'd prob park my car in the non-show area.

Lols. Megabrode did you read that? I am an elder now. Should we let them behind the curtain?
