Squeaky Side Fenders

Hi guys,

Was washing the car today and I know that when i press down on the side fenders they are squeaky. Sounds like they are kind of loose?

Wondering if anyone else has the same problem? This applies to both side of my fenders.

I noticed the same thing.

Regardless the composition of the body parts, the joints between them squeak. This should not happen (especially on a car over $50k) and is clearly a lack of attention to quality.

BMW puts significant attention into the technology, but not as much in the basic components. I also noticed the body parts do not line up very well. This is the same type of quality problem the Japanese use to point out about older American cars. Remember the ball bearing commercials? I hope BMW is not going down the wrong path...

I noticed this the first day I got my M, while waxing it.
I thought I was alone, but it turns it Im not. Doesnt really bother me, but yes on a rather expensive car, we shouldnt have this issue!

I noticed the same squeaking noise when I washed and waxed this weekend. My old e46 didn't have any squeaking sounds.

And the orange peel is much worse than my old E46.

Yeah I notice it when I was wiping the wax off. I tapped my 7 series fender and it didn't make that sound. I was worried.

Panel noise

Can someone try tapping on this area with the arrow and see if they hear a loose screw or washer noise?

I went to the dealer and did so on another M3 and it made that sound.

My dealer said it's normal

I just can't believe it.

You tell them to eat it. That is not normal, I would be really pissed if a dealer told me my car was supposed to squeak and rattle.

Yes it is normal. The fenders are plastic so not as rigid as sheet metal. There's more flex in it. Same goes with my black series, the front are carbon fiber reinforced urethane, same noise.

Mine indents there too. Pretty poor fitment IMO if that's factory. Anyone else notice this?

Are you refering to the squeak or rattling?

If I push it I get the squeky sound, which I can accept.

But if I tap it, it's got a loose rattling sound... And its where the picture shows.

Cheers

don't hear any rattling, just squeakiness when pushed.
