Arrow Skyline Run IX - For The Red Cross - 11/25

Skyline Run IX - Red Cross/Hurricane Relief
Sunday, November 25th

Meeting Location:
Stone Ridge Village Center, Stone Ridge, VA
Usual spot behind the shopping center. See route map!
Meet at 9:30am, leaving at 10am sharp.

The cost of this event: $50 Tax Deductible Donation to the Red Cross
All sport cars are welcome
Number of cars to expect (based on previous donation runs): 10
Time: Around 4-5 hours, including 1 hour for lunch.
Route: First Half of Route Since we'll have a small group, we can discuss the second half over lunch.

Check it out DC: Skyline Run

Skyline Run is a fast drive through the best twisty back roads that Northern VA has to offer. While other runs and events in the area spend a lot of time on I95 in traffic, Skyline Run's are designed to go where the traffic is not and on roads where we can drive our cars the way they were meant to be driven. The runs usually include a mountain pass, and thus the name 'Skyline Run'. I am still working on the route for this one and will update this post once it's complete. This run is for a good cause and your $50 donation is completely tax deductible. Not only that but my employer, Salesforce, will match all donations!

Lunch will be at the now traditional Melting Pot Pizza in Front Royal and will be Free.

Simple rules:
Don't speed on main roads.
Don't cut blind corners.
Slow down on blind hills.

Hey Brian! I need to schedule some cleaning/detailing time for our cars

I'd like to attend the drive but the 25th is still not looking good for me

If I can't make it I'll definitely make a donation to the Red Cross.

Yeah, definitely send the donation through the link because Salesforce will double it.

How big of a risk is the recent crackdown on wreckless driving? I'd like to participate, but the article posted on another thread scares me a bit...

I thought about this too. I really think if everyone exercises caution, and is cognizant of the fact that police are aware of the presence, we should be fine.

Keep in mind the group that got busted was clocked doing triple the speed limit, passing cars on double yellow lines, and supposedly doing burnouts and flipping u-turns in the middle of the highway.

That is just ASKING for trouble.

That's not a risk. I know where the traffic is and where the police are. It's really simple; don't speed on highways or main roads. mischief.tv does a lot of stupid things. Driving recklessly on Skyline Drive is beyond stupid.

+1

I can vouch for DarkStarZero. He's been doing runs since circa 2009 without issues.

Mischief.tv, well, it's name Mischief for a reason.

I'm really excited about the route and sharing some undiscovered roads with you guys! I'll be doing some route intel over the break and should have it finalized and posted on Saturday. With some of the roads I'm thinking about, a small group will be perfect

Awesome! I can't wait. I actually live in Stone Ridge now so this is super convenient.

Route posted! I spent all day searching for new roads and found some truely great ones. It's a good mix of double-line smooth swooping roads and tight no-line twisties. Best of all - no boring highways!

I have 4 paid so far so thats a good total of 5 cars at the moment. I do expect a few more last-minutes. Honestly, I really prefer tight small groups over the unmanagable 40 car trains. I'm excited about it and it'll give me a chance to get to know you guys better.

Better be careful going through Middleburg.

Of course but you should see the road leading there.

Great run! The first hour was complete open roads with no one in front of us, amazing. I had a lot of fun, thanks for coming out. Even from this small group we still raised $600 for the Red Cross

If anyone needs proof of donation, just PM me.

Had tons of fun guys! I think the small group made it even better, and I'm always down for these even in cold weather.
