I think the basic rule of thumb here is.......if you at at yellow minimum level DO NOT JUST DUMP IN A FULL BOTTLE OF OIL. Go with 1/4 or 1/2 at most and get the next reading. Then after that reading force a recheck via idrive or BC stalk. After a few level acquisitions add another 1/4 or whatever accordingly.

Update - I drained (from oil pan) 450-500ml of the 1 liter I had added and when I restarted it still read high. I waited a day and didn't drive it, and started and let it warm to the point of allowing a measurement and it again still read high. Rather than try another couple heat cycles, I went ahead and removed another 200ml (or so) and performed another check, and it is right at the top on the BC (stalk) measurement, but oddly the iDrive measure display shows it a hair below max. Both show it as acceptable, but I found it interesting that they display a very slight difference in 'fullness'.

Anyway, I have learned that "Add 1 Liter" should be ignored, and as some here have recommended, never add more that 0.5 liter without performing a heat cycle and checking.

I get why removing the dipstick could be good from an engineering perspective, but I wish they retained the dipstick as having to wait any amount of time (potentially with too little or too much) oil to get a reading is penny wise, and pound foolish.
