Oil change using rhino ramps?

Opinions in regards oil changing just using rhino ramps without jack.How effective is this.Appreciate the help.

It works fine. The sump on the pan is towards the back anyway. Worst case scenario is that you miss a couple ounces.

It will depend on whether your car is lowered or has any front aero mods. Rhino ramps are generally steep angled so this can possibly prevent getting your car on them.

I have rhino ramps, and the car is stock height and is still too low to get up them

Yeah, Rhinos are too tall. I just bought my M3 coupe and one of the first things I checked was if my rhino ramps would fit and they don't.

There are several companies that sell race ramps for cars that have low clearance. They typically run $250-300. Or you can buy a scissor lift for $1200-1500. Not many other options for oil changes other than jacking up the car and placing it on jack stands (which is doable but not the easiest solution).

Or add some plywood to the rhino ramps to improve the angle...

Or just use 2x4's to ease the transition. I have them and using small 2x4 blocks makes it easy. Still a good idea to have a good jack for other jobs though.

What you can do is just get the ramps as well as a jack and lift the car high enough to get it on the ramps.

These aren't priced as high as the 56" race ramps, but do the job for ~ $140

Your saying jack one side at a time and just place the ramps under the wheels?

agreed, I was disappointed to find that the rhino ramps were too steep

Kind of what it sounded like...The only benefit I see here is 1) if you don't have jack stands and 2) It is safer than putting the car on jack stands.

I mine I can drive on a 2Xsomething and get fairly low floor jack under the center jack point and then can use the jack stands or ramps. Ramps seem pretty safe to me but jack stands seem a little safer. Jack stands also fit a little more out of the way for getting under the engine.

Measured it looks like 40 race ramps is gonna be tight like 1/2 inch gap. Thanks anyway I might go 56.

Ramps are safer provided you block the rear wheels (if you drive the front up first). There is always a chance you can knock the car off the jack stands but you won't knock a car off the ramps. But I agree, I can get better access with just jackstands as they are a lot smaller, and you can remove the wheel obviously.

Yes, a little tight, especially for lowered cars. Small wood pieces help but the 56" are much nicer.

What i found is that if you jack one of the front wheel up (off the ground) by the jack point and then slowly lower it back down, then you will have enough clearance to drive the car up the rhino ramp. YMMV.

Yep jack up the front, lower tires on some 2x4s or a brick on both sides. That creates some space to jack from the center jack point.

Guys, I've mentioned this in a few other threads.. Rhino ramps work fine on my lowered car, if you put a 2 foot 2x6 in front of each ramp. MUCH simpler than jacking up the car and placing the rhino ramp under each side. You might as well use jack stands at that point.

I purchased m ZCP e92 M3 a couple months ago, and I want to do the oil changes myself (as I do on my other cars).

I already have these Rhino Ramps - http://www.amazon.com/RhinoGear-1191...rds=rhino+ramp

I personally feel most comfortable getting under a car on these ramps, but the M bumper will get destroyed up and down those ramps.

Has anyone found an easy way to adjust the incline of the ramp? I see the above posts about putting a wood block before the ramp, but I would think I need a long wood block that slide down from the top of the ramp to the ground, correct?
