Still interested to know what cams do, if anything, on a stock motor, not a stroker.

They do nothing. Theres a reason why no one does it on this forum. Well some on here have, but when they dyno the car and it loses HP they are usually quiet about it. You know who you are

Instead of being vague, which isn't helpful, show examples.

I haven't seen anyone install Schrick cams on a stock displacement S65 and show results.

Last time I wasnt vague when explaining things on here those posts magically "disappeared". What proof do you want that cams dont work? The best s65 tuner, the same one who figured out cams for the s54 is saying this and has proven it with dynos. Go contact Randy at epic motorsports for those dynos and consult him on it. As far as people on here doing cams and having no results. Well go look at the endless threads where people bought them and never came back to post results. Thats telling enough for me. You have to realize the same people who said cams would work are the same geniuses who said Dinan doesnt know how to build a stroker and their guy is THE BEST. Meanwhile they spent 6 figures on whats now useless metal and currently have Dinan engines in there car. None of there opinions are based on fact and people on here blindly follow their stupid ideas. Thats why schrick cams have been talked about for nearly 10 years with no success. Its because the people who actually know their shit realize its a waste of time.

Will ignore the above, since from start of the thread you've polluted it with simply a lot of talk. Not saying any of it is not true. I don't know, don't know your interactions, and claims you make your not providing proof…

All that said…

I do know of 2 different E9x owners who have installed and dynod with gains. Was a surfaced layer convo, so don't know the ins about how drive ability was effected etc. I'm not one that shuts the door on things, just because others haven't done it. Or because one big wig tuner says "not possible."

The reason this and many platforms/forums exist, is place where others can share their experiences. Both good and bad. How do you know if something won't work, without a sample sized of control group. You don't. Keep this thread open, for a place people can post failures and successes.

Maybe I just see things differently…

He is making up stories.

Randy at epic tuned a local car for 292s. Most owners don't care to show dynos and stuff just to appease the trolls.

One guy on here had before and after mustang dynos but the trolls demanded he bring his car to a dynojet of their choosing. I don't blame him for not giving in to their demands.

I didnt make up anything I literally posted what he said verbatim. Youre all welcome to call Randy he will say the same thing. I dont care if you make 100whp more or your engine blows up. But youre not smart if you think a platform that has been around for 15 years will magically find gains where there hasnt ever been.

Finally finished.
It took more time to get results due to unexpected events.
I'll post more details soon.

Old post, I know. But I was researching Schrick Cams and wanted to compare specs to see what the actual differences are, between the stock camshafts and the Schrick 292 package.

In doing so, I found this on the Google machine and I recognized the name on the URL as a member of this forum who has contributed quite a lot of information and experience for the beloved (or hated, depending on your experience) S65 V8.

I found it interesting when comparing the stock numbers (Schrick Cams/ 284) to the aftermarket Schrick 284 and 292 versions. According to this info, the only difference is the lift, with the 292's providing 12.2mm vs. 12.0mm from the stock package. Additionally, there is a note about lift, indicating these numbers may not be accurate when taking into consideration the distance between the cam and the hydraulic valve lifter.

Note: this is a Wiki DIY page, verify the information provided before you quote as fact.

May peace be with us all, lol.

Well, the difference would not only be lift. Duration - the 284 vs 292 - would also be different.

yeah that's pretty much it... just lift. thus the requirement of upgraded valves and retainers for 292.

the 284 does not require it.
