I took mine out yesterday, first time in over a month. Unfortunately it was just a short trip to the body shop to have get a front lip and rear diffuser installed.

Nope. Once it's parked, it stays parked.

Otherwise that totally defeats the purpose of storing it. The roads are caked in salt and unless you're thoroughly rinsing your underbody after driving it, you just circumvented the entire purpose of winter storage.

Not to mention just because it's dry, doesn't mean the temperatures are anywhere near adequate enough for a car with summer tires.

I never got around to storing the car because of the good weather. My winter car has been the one parked most days. Not complaining at all!

I don't store my car in the winter, but I also don't drive it regularly as I leave summer tires on it all year.

Feels good not having to go to the gas station frequently

I haven't been able to figure out if it's fact or myth that removing the battery from the car for long periods of time may be bad for the car.

I live in a condo so plugging it into a battery tender in the underground parking isn't an option.
Sorry to bring up an old post but how did you end up storing your M3? This is my first time storing a car over winter and I also live in a condo so I can't plug in a battery tender either.

Any help would be appreciated!

Last year I removed the battery for about 2 months over winter and had no issue when I put it back in. Surprisingly the car still kept all the settings, such as radio preset, clock and etc.

I removed my battery from the car and hooked it up to my CTek charger for the winter. I had no issues removing and putting back the same battery in the spring time. No error/warning lights either.

I stored mine at a specialist garage. Cover on, battery tender, recent oil change (and any other maintenance required so that it was ready to go in spring), I had a set of 18" wheels and tires do that the 19" summers did not get flattened.

Always worked well.

I would leave the battery in the car. Halfway through winter you can pull it out, take it upstairs to charge for a day and then put it back into the car

Thankfully I already found a garage to put my M3 inside over the winter, but my Suzuki GSX is another issue :/ I've been riding it for the last few weeks, but it's just too cold for a motorbike right now. Think a place like this would be a good idea for storing a bike? Never really used one of those before...

drive the absolute sh*t out of mine, and get it dirty. No joke. Hopefully I'll reach 235k kms by end of winter.

You've been riding your bike in New York in this weather?! No kidding it's cold lol

That said, your best bet is to get a self storage unit like the one you posted to store it for the winter. Otherwise, maybe ask a good friend that lives in a house if you can store it in their garage for a couple of months?

As far I know, technology on new tires don't really deform.

Hope I don't speak too early, but judging by the weather next week we may get lucky and be able to pull the cars out of storage earlier rather than later. Let it rain!

I’m sure my friends up in Timmins would beg to differ! I hope spring is early here on the east coast but not looking good.
