Amplifier out, do speakers have to be replaced too?
Hey All,
Let me start off by saying that I am the noobest of noobs when it comes to electronics so apologies in advance if my questions sound stupid or dumb.. Anyways a while back I lowered the roof on my E93 M3 not aware that there was a bottle of water sitting in the trunk on the side. Long story short the water leaked and my amplifier went out and I was hearing static and distortion on the speakers. My mechanic tells me that most likely my speakers are out too and I would need to replace the amp and the speakers. I floated the idea of just replacing the amplifier and see if the issue would be fixed but he tells me that if the speakers are shot they will damage the new amplifier again so I will be better off replacing the Amp and the speakers. Is there anyway of finding for sure if the speakers are shot? I would love to avoid replacing the speakers if at all possible… TIA..

Just the amp. The shop telling you it's the speakers too has no idea what they are talk about. I wouldn't use them any longer as it's clear they have no experience with BMW's and are attempting to collect money for unnecessary items.
