Painting the rear bumper

Hi guys

Many years ago, someone gave me a love tap on the rear bumper, Square in the middle. It left 2 small marks where the screws from that plate were. The world being what it is, no note was left.

My question is regarding value. The car itself is mint aside from these marks - if i repaint the rear bumper, will this cause an issue should I ever decide to sell it?

it shouldn't affect the value as long as it is documented with pictures before and after

Depends on the buyer I guess, but a painted bumper wouldn't be a show stopper for me and i'm definitely on the more discerning end of the spectrum when it comes to caring about paint. I'd 'buy the owner' and and general history, which in your case given you have owned the car from new (correct me if I'm wrong!) means its truly of known provenance . I would actually appreciate the attention to detail, by that I mean if you repaint it because of a couple of marks on the bumper thats a good sign you really care about the car. Plus your car is mint anyway mate I wouldn't worry about it

Thanks man.

This happened about 5 years ago, and no one has noticed the marks yet (they look like parking sensors) - but I know they are there.

it will not effect the value at all. You don't want to sell the car to a person who would care anyway. There are plenty of fish in the sea.

Just re paint it. Just don't let the shop tell you they cannot strip and repaint the bumper. I had the same license plate marks on my bumper from assholes too and the first 2 shops of 5 told me I needed a new bumper too.

Unless the car is an absolute concours queen, a repainted bumper is not going to have any impact whatsoever. Bumpers get painted.

Re-Painted bumpers don't affect value. Recorded accidents do.

Just spray and don't worry.

Keep the paperwork and note the reason you painted was because you're so meticulous.
A word of caution, just be sure you get a quality shop to perform a good job, because trading some marks for orange peel, debris in the paint, or other imperfections isn't going to help your situation.
