A light vibration from the 80A mounts. No worry the car will shake apart. Just a light vibration that is noticeable enough that you feel it and would not want it every day in a street car. I still need to recheck the torque but am not confident reducing it will get rid of the vibration while still securing the mounts. I don’t think you will like the 75D mounts on the street but you can live with them since it’s temporary until your other car is fixed. However, I think you have the match wrong in that the BW motor mounts are softer than the 75D trans mounts. You should run softer trans mounts than motor mounts or at least equal. The 75D trans mounts might go well with solid or Delrin or 75d motor mounts — real race car stuff.

Thanks for the info. I realized I was wrong about what GroupN motor mounts are after ordering the trans mounts. So I may throw the GroupN mounts on the E36 and get poly mounts for E46.
The car is also getting monoball FCABs, RTABs, and RSMs. I already wear earplugs on long drives, but after installing all these parts, I’m guessing I’ll need to wear earplugs all the time. |

If you want to pay to get a tuner to bump your idle speed to about 850 rpm, that may help. If you notice vibration at idle try holding the throttle steady at 850 and note whether you still feel it.
I ran Bimmerworld replica group n mounts on my e36m3 for a while and thought they were fine on that car but my idle speed is 850 rpm - also helps with a LTW flywheel or supercharger or cams. |

Thanks pbonsalb and bigjae1976. A bit of a delayed reply but I read your comments when you posted them and took them onboard and they had me rethinking solid mounts and, instead, considering something more compliant.
I had found these: AKG $350+$75, 95A poly https://www.akgmotorsport.com/produc...8x-e9x-non-m3/ https://www.akgmotorsport.com/produc...e92-e93-z3-z4/ (but could leave off the cups) 034 Motorsport $196+$50, 50-60A rubber https://store.034motorsport.com/moto...2-n54-n55.html https://store.034motorsport.com/moto...nger-side.html https://store.034motorsport.com/tran...-line-bmw.html BMW OE $32-45, __A (? durometer) rubber E46 M3 trans mounts The AGK mounts are poly and there have been a number of people on the N5X platform that have experienced issues with these mounts since the turbo is tucked away down the right-hand side near the mount and they become affected by the heat. The 034 mounts are rubber but a softer mount. I've also read of issues on the N5X platform when they fail (fall apart) after a very short period (less than 1000kms!). I was thinking 80A +/-10A would be suitable but haven't found anything in that range yet - the above were the closest that I've found so far. The OEM E46 trans mount is another option but I haven't found any information on its hardness rating. |

I just installed the AKG 95A transmission mounts on my DCT M3, they are totally hilarious, I can actually hear the clutches engaging now. Totally concur with the track-car-only descriptor on the website. Love them for my purposes but I definitely wouldn't install these on a street car. The AKG 75D engine mounts are going in next week (OE engine mounts currently installed).

Something like the UUC black mounts with enforcer cups might be a good option if you are buying for a car that fits E46 M3 mounts. E21 mounts are also harder but have a bigger stud so you have to drill out the mounting hole a little.

I've seen similar comments:
OEM -> E46 M3 -> Rogue Engineering -> UUC Black -> UUC Blue -> UUC Red Up to Black for street-driven cars and Blue/Red for track only cars. Since I'm also after engine mounts, I might just end up getting the 034 mounts as a set and see how they fair - a bit softer than I was looking for but an improvement over OE. |

Interesting additional observation, my exhaust sounds way better w/ the OE transmission mounts. I detected a change when I installed the polys but didn't realize how drastic it was. Engine mounts only FTW, leave those transmission mounts stock folks!

Has anyone tried these Megan Racing motor mounts? How's the NVH compare to OE??
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Megan-Racin...tYkA-l&vxp=mtr Also, they seem to come in 2 flavors...only differentiated by the color of the metal reinforcement...the durometer of the rubber is 70A on the "street" version, not sure what it is on the "race" version. I would definitely use the street version, if I were to try them. TIA -Mark in St. Louis |

Yeah...I don't even care about the tranny mounts TBH...I was mainly wondering if anyone has tried the motor mounts.
I'm sure I'll just end up getting a pair of Corteco OEM motor mounts, as I don't track the M3. -Mark |

I also just noticed the UUC "OE replacement rubber mounts" with a "lifetime guarantee":

Juster ordered some new engine mounts to try out, LINK.
New-ish offering from Turner (currently on sale). I went with the 90a option for street/track duty. Will report back after I get them installed, can't wait!

Just an update to my previous posts, I ended up getting the Turner Motorsport solid engine, transmission and diff mounts.
I haven't installed the solid diff mounts yet because that was going to be an involved process but will install them in a few months. I don't expect much additional NVH compared to the current rear end setup. I installed the solid engine and trans mounts and immediately noticed increased NVH. Since there were a lot of other changes made at the same time, I decided to remove just the trans mounts and revert back to OE trans mounts - NVH gone. This was just to ensure it was the trans mounts and not something else that contributed to the increased NVH. I didn't mind the increased NVH so the plan will be to re-install the solid trans mounts at the end of the year. The solid engine mounts have been in for over six months and I have no complaints at all with them. Maybe a very slight (to me) increase in NVH but nothing at all that concerns me. |

I have the Revshift 75D engine and trans mounts on my DCT E92 and my experience is that the engine mounts barely increased vibration at all. I have a friend with an E36 who had way worse steering wheel vibration at idle with 75D engine mounts. They did increase "mechanical" noise of the engine a bit, but not really THAT bad. For the trans mounts, I can't feel or hear an increase in NVH aside from shifting into/out of reverse/1st in parking lots (comically loud as someone else pointed out). Both of these are also very reasonably priced.
https://www.revshift.com/product-p/pmm-r36.htm https://www.revshift.com/product-p/ptm-e9xm.htm Now I can't give feedback on whether the increase is enough to ruin a stock daily setup since I have a fully catless RPI exhaust system, but I can still notice the small changes/increases in noise and the above were nbd to me. If you want your M3 whisper quiet then they may not be for you. It's not really doing a ton (anything?) anyway if you're just dailying. I also have solid metal differential mounts from AKG and they did not add nearly as much noise as I was expecting. I would guess that if you have any kind of aftermarket muffler, it would be mostly covered up. Again, not something you'd really benefit from on a daily imo anyway. https://www.akgmotorsport.com/produc...5-328-330-335/ And I also have solid metal subframe mounts and I would do those again in a heartbeat on a bone stock car. Zero NVH increase and very noticeable improvement. The F8X come from the factory with solid metal subframe bushings, so that should say something. Edit - and to answer OP's question: The diff and subframe mounts made a HUGE difference on track. The motor and trans mounts don't make a tangible difference, but once you lock down half of the drivetrain, I feel like you really need to lock down the other half based on simple physics assumptions, so I'm sure they are doing something to help maintain an even balance on the driveshaft. |
